    80’s Crazy

It’s 80’s Crazy with some friends from the neighborhood tonight and I was looking for a little fashion inspiration. Thought I’d share the fun with you all. I still have no idea what I’m gonna wear tonight though. Sigh.

    May Day

Happy May Day! The whole idea of it being May 1st already has me dumbstruck. This year is going way too fast for my liking. Wayyy. I’d like to spin that record back and add a month please. Maybe by an extra hour or two a day. But that would only give me, like, 2 1/2 days or an extra long weekend. Hardly time to clean my closets. Unless, I spun it for the whole year? Hmm…. but now we’re getting into way too much math for this time of the day and I don’t feel like calculating. Oh well.
That said in honor of May Day let’s welcome Spring with this pretty shot taken
in front of my DD’s dance school yesterday.

In stark contrast I’m hoping to get a moment with this guy over the weekend. Grrrrr!
    What are your plans?

Art and Fear- Two to Tango

What’s Jack up to? Jack is doing his Monday chill (not that he didn’t chill the entire weekend). He’s all spruced up after getting a quick grooming on Sunday afternoon so he’s nice and clean and has a fresh new haircut. What more could a dog want?

Lately, I’ve been in a strange head space that I don’t like at all. Cluttered, crowded and filled with all sorts of things and none of it what I really want. Lots if it putting little and sometimes big roadblocks in the path on the way to my dreams. Quite a bit of it all just necessary parts of life.

But I have to wonder if some of it is just plain old fear. Fear, the ultimate life blocker. Freaking fear and his sister worry, they both suck and hang over at my place like annoying relatives that don’t know when they’ve overstayed their welcome.

I saw this video of Elizabeth Gilbert author of Eat, Pray, Love, which I loved, a while back and shared it with friends. I recently watched it again over at the blog Make Under My Life and was once again moved so wanted to share to here.

Happy Monday! I’ve got some work to do and some folks to send packing. How about you?

Oh to be Young Again-80’s Babies

What Jack up to? Jack is looking forward to a sunny and warm weekend in NY. Yes! Long walks, rolling in the grass and barking at the neighbors. Happy Jack!

And Happy Friday! Congrats on making it through the week. Whew, made it. With this nutty week it was feeling a little touch and go there for a while.

I’m leaving you all this week with one of my favorite 80’s songs. Who Do You Love by Bernard Wright.

For the longest time I had forgotten about this old classic and then it suddenly one day jumped back into my head along with the video image of Bernard and the pretty girl spinning round and round. I remember this was in the opening scene of the groundbreaking Video Music Box. Does anybody else out there remember that show with DJ Ralph McDaniels? I’m talking to you N and C, R and M!

Well, I couldn’t remember the actual song title or artist and I was obsessed to find out so I got on the phone and called Tower records in The Village and actually sang the song to a couple of workers until I got another 80’s baby on the phone that knew in the first three badly sung words that it was Bernard Wright and I could happily get some sleep. True story.

    Funny Filler

This is just total filler because it’s 12:45 AM and I have no words left and can’t promise you any for tomorrow morning. But I really like this Heinekin ad and didn’t even notice it until the DH pointed it out to me. Very funny.

For all my writers out there so I’m not leaving you completely wordless I’ll borrow a few from Julia Cameron since I’m currently re-reading The Right to Write. This is from the Chapter on Mood.

“Being in the mood to write, like being in the mood to make love,
is a luxury that isn’t necessary for a long term relationship.”

    Happy Easter!

What’s Jack up to? It’s a holiday and Jack will be with the family getting spoiled and enjoying sneaking all the little treats he can. Oh, it will be a joyous day for him!

I hope it will be a joyous day for you too no matter if you celebrate Easter or not. It’s a wonderful day to celebrate all the blessings we have. Even if you have not, you still have. Just think for a little bit. I’ll wait….Now if you are reading this, then you have plenty. There’s a start. Now think some more. Have fun.

Happy Easter to all my Peeps!

    Little Dorrit

I hope your holiday weekend is going well. I meant to do this post a while back, so sorry. But if you like your classics dark, moody with too many characters to count, all sorts or intrigue and some nice period costumes (like me) then check out Dickens’ Little Dorrit on PBS.

Sorry again about my lateness, but the series has already started. Check your local listings for times, but you can catch the first 2 showings on line right now here. I’m enjoying poor Little Dorrit’s sad plight and her father, Mr. Dorrit steals every scene. Give it a look see if you have the time.

    Moody Music

Hi All. Thursday already? How did that happen? Not too many words today. There’s nothing too exciting going on lately (Costco, doctor, teen shoe shopping, KFC) so I thought I’d better save any stray word that happens to flutter by for my current WIP and not bore you. The Mood still lingers but no biggie. I’m sure with warmer weather will come a warmer mood. See there is some of nice old optimism for ya. Grin.

Just to keep the moody theme going I thought I’d share one of my favorite songs for a blue mood. Aretha Franklin singing Drinking Again. Makes you just want to sit at a table with a bottle and a smoke, no matter if you’re dry as a bone and never lit up in your life! Enjoy.

Have a great day. Make it sunny no matter the weather. I’m sure gonna try.

Protests, Finances and Fashion Oh My!

What’s Jack up to? Jack has been his usual scamp of a self. Getting into everything, barking at everyone and causing general chaos while being as cute as can be. There is no sign of it slowing down with the Dear Twins being on spring break this week. It will be a bumpy ride.

I hope you all had a good weekend. So far I’ve had my fill of, “what are we gonna do todays,” and it’s only the beginning of the week. Sigh.
I did take in my fair share of The President and First Lady’s travels with the G20 summit.
There were the protests as there are at every summit with the world on a horrible economic downturn they are all the more justified.

Finances were tops on every one lips with a the big wigs. Work people work!

And although this was most important to me I’ll admit to being the ultimate girl and having the best time following the First Lady’s every move. What Grace, What style and to top it all off with so much substance. I get chills at the opportunity of hope that was not there before. I want my own daughter to feel it and believe. I’m so grateful for what has happened and sincerely hopeful for a better future for our young people of the world.

Thanks to the fab blog Mrs. O for the wonderful images. What fun for the Michelle Obama fan like myself. You can check it out here.

    Have a great Monday!

It’s Got A Good Beat And You Can Dance To It

Happy Fab Friday People! Well, another week has flown by. What’s up with that? The calender says Spring. There are even crocus cropping up here and there but the thermometer here in New York clearly did not get the memo.

Yesterday I was doing the mommy afternoon drive thing with the DD. Joy and fun with teens right? And when this happens you lose all control of your car radio especially with my girl. Cut to me cringing with the rapid fire speed of the station changing.

So this is what’s playing in my 15 year old’s ears and subsequently what’s playing in my ears too right about now. I can’t deal with some of her music, but some I really do like. And hey, she does go for a lot of my 80’s stuff and she gets Prince. The girl has some good taste. In honor of Fab Friday and Simply Seleta Enjoy some Fab teen/mom questionable bonding music.
