Summer Dreamin’
It’s that transition time, cool in the morning (ok, downright cold) and you bundle all up to head out to start your day. But then by the time lunchtime arrives, the sun comes out full blast bringing with it a warmth that you had almost forgotten existed. So you start to slowly peel away those layers as you wiggle your foot out into those little spots of golden light. It is there that you get that lovely taste of warmth that has you pausing and dreaming of the summer days to come.
Me, I’m starting to flirt with the idea of shedding my winter layers of suede boots and ugh, those seen better days, sneakers (that come to think of it have not seen enough of the gym while it was still cold.) and going for something prettier and lighter to put a new spring in my step. Now me being a tall girl, I’m not one to teeter around on some spindly heels so I always gravitate towards the classic espadrille as a go to summer shoe. Something about that natural rope style always takes me away to a calmer place. It’s like a vacation for your feet. I’m glad to see that this year there are plenty of styles to choose from ranging from your basic flats, which I adore, to fun and flirty stacked sandal styles that add height while still giving a girl like me (klutzy) much needed stability.
With so many espadrilles styles to choose from I can feel a shoe frenzy coming on. But first I’m thinking a trip to the nail salon for a long overdue Pedi is definitely in order. Another place I hardly saw over the winter months. Uh oh.
Tell me what is your favorite warm weather shoe style?
Side note question: Do you, like me, skip the Pedi’s during the winter?Best,

Orange You Glad…
Looking ahead to 2012 the Panotone people say are mad about tangerine this year. As a fan of the color orange I’m happy to get behind this trend.
So what to you think. Will you be doing the tangerine tango come 2012?

In the Swing
It’s a new day and I’m putting my best foot forward to get into the swing of things on this hump day.
How are you swinging today?

Dressing for Bill
I can’t wait to see this documentary on New York Times Photographer Bill Cunningham. His On The Street scenes are works of art.
Happy Friday!

Fashionista Can Jump
I love this fun video of Vogue’s Hamish Bowles and New York Knick Amar’e Stoudemire in a game of hoops (well sort of hoops).
Enjoy.

Hello Universe…
And the Fashion Oscar Goes to…
So did you watch last night? No matter it was dullsville in quite a few parts. Honestly, to me the Red Carpet was more lively than the actual show. Here are my favorite Red Carpet looks:
Loving Natalie looking pregnant and beautiful, Mila gorge, Hailee so sweet and Anne loving the red.
Halle, Kate, Celine and Camila (girlfriend of Matthew McConaughey) hit it out of the park with their looks. I so want that black gown. And I’m giving a special nod to Kate for making me look twice before I decided her dress was really a work of art. Thanks Kate for not playing it safe.
Down here Jennifer, Gwyn, Amy and Nicole sadly don’t make the best list. They do get E’s for effort but there is something a little off with each look that keeps them for hitting their marks.
Best,
Kwana

Hold That Tiger
So all of NY was a twitter last night over the premier at Madison Square Garden of the newest Knick Carmelo Anthony but it seems Carmelo was upstaged and Twitter was a twitter by veteran Knick and announcer Walt “Clyde” Frazier and his stunning tiger print jacket. Did you know that GQ has called Walt a style icon? Oh yes they did.
He’s got the flash and the dash!
But here…All I can say is Hold That Tiger.
On the other hand, Walt has me thinking these shoes are kinda hot. Darn I’m torn now.
Best,
KwanaAs nicely as I can say.. get with it!
This is a complaint note I felt I had to write this morning, or not move on:
Dear Pretty Of The Moment Online Fashion House:
An avid blog reader and blogger myself, I found your site through a blog recommendation and was very excited to give it a look. Being a big fan of classic styles and the striped boatneck in particular, I wanted to order yours. Sadly, I was extremely upset to see that your size large is a size 8. I really don’t understand that size structure. Coming from a fashion background my feeling is size M should be 8-10 and L 12-14. I think your size Large being a size -8 and having it be your final size is very limited sizing and excludes a lot of women. This makes me wonder if that is your point intentional or not. It saddens me as a woman and as a mother of a teen girl in this day and age when girls are dealing so much and having to overcome assaults on their body images in the media every day. I think you have a beautiful site, full of great product and wonderful design but I would encourage you to rethink your sizing structure to be more inclusive. And to get a new customer. Thank you.
Kwana Jackson
P.S. I won’t say the name of house here but I did send them the note. I encourage you to do the same with other places if you encounter this problem. Why go through life feeling that you are the problem? It’s NOT you. It’s THEM!!!!
