Where, oh where, did the summer go?
Listen, don’t look to me because I have no answers over here. I’ve pretty much spent most of my summer in my little cave pecking away at my laptop in prep for next year’s books. It’s ok though, all my vacations have been in my head and I’m sure a physical one will come soon (sure? Hope?).
Meanwhile, The Jackster has been by my side as I put the finishing touches on my upcoming Unconventionl Brides Series, only giving me grief when he wants a treat or when he finds me totally slacking. You all know that nobody does judgy like Jack.
Well now that you made it to my new place on the web grab and a cup of what ever strikes your fancy, a seat and stay a spell. Check out some of my other blog posts, my book page and please don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter (sidebar: you get to find out about my new contests that way) to stay up-to-date on my upcoming projects (there are many!). The most immediate being HOLIDAY TEMPTATION which will be out in now less than a month with me, Donna Hill and Farrah Rochon (I’m so the under card in that fight and proud to be it).
So that’s that. Happy early-fall peeps! If you know me you know I’m already on the hunt for the perfect black turtleneck and scheduling my Fall TV viewing and tweeting in my planner.
Thanks and I’ll see you around!
All the best,
KMJ
Happy 9th Birthday Jack!
Please join me in wishing a very happy birthday to the sweetest little bad dog I know, Jack! It was his birthday yesterday and he got quite a few new toys that he destroyed faster than a zombie on The Walking Dead.
SMH it’s so very Jack. 9 years and he hasn’t slowed down yet.
Love you Jackster! Thanks for keeping me on my toes.
Love,
KMJ
Just here… looking pretty
Jack says, hey people! He wants you all to admire him and his lovely haircut and his bandanna that says ‘I am handsome’ while Kwana runs around over on the sidelines doing all the things a writer does a week before the biggest conference of the year (no, she’s not grumpy or stressed at all).
For those coming to RWA National next week she can’t want to see you and remember Thursday the 23rd is #WeNeedDiverseRomance tee day. Later!
All the best,
Jack & KMJ
Don’t Let His Good Looks Fool Ya!
So Jack got the ultimate beauty treatment this weekend going from drab to fab with one haircut.
So to celebrate he decided to be really bad and while the DH and I were out at bowling he somehow jumped his little butt up on the counter and pulled all the BBQ down eating chicken, ribs, & sausage. Pretty much ALL our dinner. Thanks, Jack, but that look won’t work, it’s the naughty chair for you!
Happy New Week!
All the best,
KMJ
Underneath…
This has been a fast winter, but a really long February and early March with the amount of snow dumped on us weekly or bi-weekly.
But alas there is a light! And this week the forecast is calling for above freezing temperatures for the WHOLE week. Could it be that these piles of snow and ice will start to thaw? I’ve almost forgotten what grass looks like in real life and can’t wait to see what’s unearthed underneath it all (oh great, now I’m singing that song. Happy Earworm! LOL).
All the best,
KMJ
Seasons
Oh so much snow. This winter has been weighed down with it. Thick and heavy and seemingly never ending.
Poor Jack has barley been out more than a few moments at a time with the temperatures constantly below freezing so all we do are quick runs in and out. As we go along on our dashes we both look back out at the porch with longing. Dreaming of the days to come when we can once again sit out and have the sun shining warmly on our faces.
But from now on those lovely porch sits will be different forever changed. Our very good friend not by our side but always in our hearts.
Happy Birthday Nana.
With all our love.
Always,
KMJ

How I Love Your Scandalous Heart …
How much do I heart as well as admire the folks over at abc and Shondaland? All you long time followers and especially twitter friends know I’m a TV fanatic so this probably comes as no surprise. Don’t ask me about state’s capitals, but quiz me on Real Housewives trivia and I’m on it.
That said, I am discerning when it comes to my TV watching and to quote the lyrical poets of Three 6 Mafia, “It’s hard out here for a pimp.” I don’t give my loyalty or my time frivolously and when I’m in, I’m ride or die. So I’m giving huge props and much respect to the Shondaland family for the kindness that they gave when sending out such lovely thank you gifts to some loyal watching, tweeting and recapping fans (check my latest recap over on Heroes and Heartbreakers). Seriously, in this society where you don’t always get a thank you for what you do (and Scandal is so great I’d be shouting about it regardless of the thanks) I was truly touched to receive such a thoughtful package.
How cool is this? And there’s a copy of Gone Girl. How did they know I’m the only person in the world that hasn’t read the book yet. I’m fixing that now!
These coasters are everything!
So here’s my thank you back abc and Shondaland. I can’t wait until the next #TGIT. I’ll see you all on twitter. Look me up @kwanawrites 🙂
Olivia popcorn. I die. No way, Jack move along doggie!
All the best,
KMJ

We’d also like to once again extend an invite to our new private TEAM KMJ fan page where this week on Wednesday, July 23rd at 9pm we’ll be having a group chat about THROUGH THE LENS. I’d love to have you join us where the team and I will be discussing beach reads, office romances and I’ll be answering all your probing questions. I hope so see you there!

Feeding the Beast aka Distraction Jackson
Happy Monday! Time to get the grind on, as if the grind ever stops when you’re in the creative arts. But honestly, I’m starting to feel the pressure as the words have not been flowing at a rate that I feel they should be, so grinding right now is what I need to do. Take what I can get and worry about it later. Just get something on the page. Everyday. Don’t overthink. Besides, all that can come later along with the internal editor. She loves that job any way, so why should I deprive her of it?
The problem is it would seem that at this point I’d rather do just about anything but grind it out as I need to and get the words on the page. And to feed the beast of procrastination my good friend, Laura Curtis, was kind enough to gift me with some amazing needlepoint patterns and one of them just so happened to be a perfect match for my very own Jack. Isn’t it amazing? I’m finding it so hard to think of anything else right now but running to the store and getting thread to start on this project. Tell me what are ways that you procrastinate or ways that you don’t? Hmm… yeah, maybe I should start there. LOL
All the best,
KMJ
