    Good Night Out

The other night was my book/drinks/mom’s night out night. The group is pretty much our knitting group, but on the road and at night.

And it was a gorgeous night as we gathered for drinks and food at, Half Moon, a restaurant on the Hudson with a great view of the river where you can see clear down to Manhattan on a good night.

So sorry for the blurry pic. The waiter had shaky hands.
A lot of you will recognize PVE in the center there.

As we discussed the book The Virgins Lover (which got a good review) then went on to family and other topics of night I got to thinking about how our group was about so much more than books or knitting, but about friendship and camaraderie in a way that was different from our immediate family. We talked and laughed well into the night and as table after table left, we just ordered refills on our coffee and kept the chatting going. Thanks for a fun night out Knisters!

For those of you playing the at home game our next book is Julie & Julia so it will be book and movie talk next month. Yay!

Do you have a little group that you meet up with for crafts or book talk?

    Best,
    Kwana

    The Party Goes On

What’s Jack up to? Jack was a wild boy this morning. Running out the door and chasing behind the poor man that dared to ring our bell to deliver an early AM message. I swear we’re going to get a bad rep, Jack and never get that million dollar check delivered.

Turns out my party is still going on. I was surprised last night by friends and neighbors with yet another cake at dinner. There is nothing nicer then spending a relaxing evening full of good food and laughs with folks you can let you hair down with. The older I get the more I appreciate the value of friends.

I hope you have plenty of cheer this weekend.

    Best,
    Kwana

    With Thanks

I can’t thank you all enough for all the love you’ve given me this week. You all really got me through my 40th birthday blues with style. I’m blessed to have the best family, friends and virtual friends in the world.
    I’m so grateful.
The Universe left this wonderful note in my email box yesterday:
    Happy Birrrrthday to Youuuu,
    Happy Birrrrthday to Youuuu,
    Happy Birrrrthday Dear Kwana,
    Happy Birrrrthday to Youuuu!
A few years back, not so long ago, heaven and earth erupted into a major celebration with the news of your impending adventure into this very time and space.

You see, someone like Kwana Jackson doesn’t come along all that often. In fact, there’s never been a single one like you, nor is there ever ANY possibility that another will come again. You’re an Angel among us. Someone, whose eyes see what no others will EVER see, whose ears hear what no others will EVER hear, and whose perspective and feelings will NEVER, ever be duplicated. Without YOU, the Universe, and ALL THAT IS, would be sadly less than it is.
Quite simply: You’re the kind of person, Kwana,Who’s hard to forget,A one-in-a-million To the people you’ve met.Your friends are as varied As the places you go,And they all want to tell you In case you don’t know:That you make a big difference In the lives that you touch,By taking so little And giving so much!

Kwana, you are so AWESOME! For your birthday, friends and angels from every corner of the Universe, including buddies you didn’t know you had, will be with you to wish you the HAPPIEST of days and an exciting new year in time and space. You won’t be alone!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kwana!

And it turns out I wasn’t alone. You came out in droves. Here’s a pic of my cake from last night. I wish you all could have been with me to have a taste. But you were in my heart.

Now it’s time for me to tackle this new decade. GO ME and GO YOU. Let’s make this our decade.

    Much love to you all,
    Kwana

    Merriment

So I was all ready to sit down and write some really profound post for the day (Hey! Stop laughing) when I get a call from this temptress down the street.

“Hey”, she says all sweet and innocent. “Why don’t you guys come on down the block? We’ve got our other buds here just having some grub and vino.”

Hmm, I think I’ve already had grub, but I could use some vino and I really like those other friends too, but I’ve got so much laundry to do and I’ve been out all day. I know I’ll just stop by with the DH for a few minutes- ½ hour tops.

4 hours later after much vino, more grub, music and merriment we roll back into our house.
I guess the holiday season had begun!

This one is for you friends.

Oh and TWILIGHT is done. Yeah, I have been bitten.

    Best,
    Kwana

    Back to the Grind

What’s Jack up to? He’s getting his beauty rest after the long holiday weekend of too much socializing. I know how you feel Jack, but no rest for me there’s work to be done.

How was your weekend? Mine was a Hot Tranny Mess! Well, not really. It was really a gorgeous Tranny Show on Sunday night when I went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday at Lucky Cheng’s in The Village! Here is one photo that can be shared. Maybe more to come later once the official photographer sends them to me since I came out with no memory chip in my camera. Smart huh? I also got to go to another friends wonderful housewarming and make some new friends so yay! Then had some neighbors stop over for am impromptu Memorial Day get together which was lots of fun since it was totally unplanned. So this was a banner weekend.

Anyone get to watch The Bachelorette last night?
2 hours of oversensitivity and then raging bouts of testosterone. The Show opened with the three guys who got 1st impression roses on the last episode, Jeremy, Jesse and Richard, moving in with DeAnna and the rest of the dudes moving into the guest house in camp like barracks.
Then DeAnna went on a group date to a magic show where she disappeared with one guy making the others very upset. Later there was some sort of camping trip that I was too busy to pay much attention to, but I was lucky enough to catch Ryan, the virgin football player, tell all the guys that he was a virgin and stop the conversation cold. Screech!
There was a later group date at Dodger Stadium and Jeremy, the real estate attorney, rocked the other guys in the Home Run derby and one on one time with DeAnna and opened up to her telling her that he lost both his parents. Aww. Very Sad, but pulled him a rose. Cagey eh?
They showed the chef, Robert, in his Dodger shirt with a pink polo underneath (collar up) worrying if he’d get a first impression rose. I’m thinking no.
Then we get to see the whole group of guys sit around shirtless while the single dad opens up about his 3 year old son. Aww.
Is it me or the wacky folksy guitar music in the background or is the most ridiculously sensitive group of guys ever?
Later all the guys turn on Jeremy, even Ryan the virgin football dude. What up with that? Boy fight!
How do the guys do it? Why with glares and push ups of course!
Going home this week are: Eric the Greek guy who has to date a Greek girl and that was what DeAnna had going for her, Chris who pretty much pushed DeAnna away on his way out the door and Ryan the Pro Football Virgin doesn’t get why he was kicked out and didn’t make a connection. He was voted friendliest in 8th grade ya know so thins makes no sense!
No tears from the guys this week only DeAnna. Be Strong Girl! There’s no crying in Baseball!
Now time to get to work:
    Lets see there’s:
Laundry, housework, doctor, P/T, proposal to write, bills, more laundry, more housework, kids eye doctor etc.
    What’s on your to-do list?
    Best,
    Kwana

    Top of the Mornin’

What’s Jack up to? Chilling on a Monday. I think he’s as happy as I am to have the house free of teens for a few hours. I know right, Jack? Then tension goes down, like 10 notches. Whew.

Happy St. Patrick’s day to you all. I hope you have a fun day and let’s give a birthday shout out to the lovely Patricia of pve design . She’s my very own bannner designer that I interviewed here.
I hope you have a wonderful year Patricia and all your dreams come true.

This was a pretty busy weekend in Kwana land and unfortunately the migraines were kicking my butt-hard. I’m still following doctors orders and not taking any pain meds. Ugh. Giving birth to the twins was easier and I went into labor with them not once, not twice, but three times! TMI? Sorry. Moving on…
The twins had a big extra credit assignment where they had to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to do a Global History assignment. What good teachers they have. So the DH, DD, DS and I got to take a short ride to the city to check out The MET. I’m Tim Gunn in this photo.

The Parking Gods were smiling upon us and a spot magically opened up on 87th and 5th. OMG! That like NEVER happens.
The museum was pretty crowded and unfortunately the projects weren’t in my favorite wings, but I did get to spend a little time pretending I was on Project Runway by checking out the Temple of Dendur and even standing in front of Christian’s inspiration picture: Portrait of Andres de Andrade-i-la Col. by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. Yeah. He rocked it.

    photos thanks to project rungay

So tonight I’ll be watching Dancing with the –Stars? I have to say Stars? Because come on, are you kidding me here? But I’ll still watch and find some E list celeb to get behind.

After that The Bachelor is back and this time he bla- no, he’s British! Just as good! This is the show I hate to watch, but always do. I have to support my dear Nana who at the end of every season curses out the Bachelor calling him all sort sorts terrible names because he didn’t pick the “amazing” girl that she thought he should. Yeah she vows never to watch either, but gets suckered in too. After the, ‘where are they now?’ show last week. We both decided to give the hot Brit a go, but thought the girls seemed very “Rock of Love”. Scary.

    How was your weekend?

    Best,

    Kwana

    Welcome to the darkside

I want to give a shout out to my knitting buddy and brand new blogger, Eileen- aka- Wish List Mom.

With a push from Patricia (thanks for the shout-out today) and I, instead of knitting, Eileen set up her blog today. She’s a wife, mother, home-based business owner and loves TV just as much as I do! Could it be true.?Today she’s blogging about some craziness going on at Big Brother. Hop on over and give her a welcome.

    Have fun Eileen!
