That and So Much More… Happy MLK Day!

Thanks so much to all of you for the wonderful Happy Birthday comments for the Dear Twins. They were so touched and thank you all!

So I was driving downtown with the twins the other night to go and meet my DH and see The Addams Family for the twins’ birthday (it was wonderful). We were in a crazy amount of traffic and the DD and I were both frustrated and flipping radio stations in for of a flipping competition. I was so happy when this gem from 1986 came on. I had the best time trying to tell the twins about the song and what it meant to all of us. The fact that Martin Luther King Day wasn’t always a holiday (something they could not really get their head around) and we were so happy we had to get out most popular and most stylishly dressed (LOL) R&B stars of the time to commemorate it. I hope you enjoy and reflect today on all Dr. King stood for and how his dream still had a long ways to go.

    Happy 17th Dear Twins!!

Happy 17th Birthday Dear Twins!! I can’t believe I’m actually writing that number. As I do, of course I’m telling myself not to cry but looking at these pictures from our trip to Disney World when you were just 3 years old it’s hard not to think of that as just yesterday and not tear up.

But I (well, we, both Dad and I) turn and look at you now and marvel at the young man and young woman you have become and we can only wonder at the truly amazing adults you will one day be. We are very proud of you both and blessed every day to have you in our lives.

Here is it only a few words down and yes, the tears are flowing freely. Sorry, guys, I can’t stop them. All I have to do is think of the never ending love I have for you both and my heart overflows. If there could be one thing I would change in this life. It would be to go back to just a few of these very precious days and slow them down a bit. So that I could hold you both tighter on that day. And tell you I love you just one more time to add to my tally.

Happy Birthday K & W! Enjoy the next chapter on the Journey Into Your Imagination.

    Love Forever,

    Mom and Dad

& That funny dog Jack too!

    Snowbound

Happy Friday!  I hope you all are doing great at the end of this snowy week for so many for us. Looking at the piled high drifts of snow and feeling the chill that now seems like it will ever go away I just can’t stop my mind from wandering to some warm far away isle.

I hope you enjoy your day and have a few warm day dreams.

Oh and please join me tomorrow for a little celebration!

    Best,

    Faraway Friends

What’s Jack up to? Today Jack is enjoying yet another snow day with me and the Dear Twins. He’s still on his meds though I have taken off his space cone since he has broken it almost beyond tape repair. And besides that I can’t stand to have that sharp little edge jabbed against my legs one more time so I’m giving him a break there. Poor little Jack and his space cone. I hope he enjoys the snow without it today.

On a more fun note: It is still so surprising how this whole blog world works at times. On Monday I was thrilled to have a chance to meet a longtime blog friend from way across the pond in London. The Lovely Ronke aka Ondo Lady from the always happening pop culture blog The Musings of Ondo Lady.

I’ve been a fan of Ronke’s blog for well over 3 years since Patricia of pve design first told me about her. And happily Ronke and I have been blog buddies since my first comment. Now with the power of Twitter we’re able to chat in more immediate time and the friendship has grown even stronger although I’m always a little miffed when she makes an Eastenders comment (wish I could be watching too).

I was so excited about a month ago to get an email from Ronke saying she would be in New York and would like to meet me. She was kind enough to come up my neck of the woods and I picked her up from the train station taking her for a lunch. I gave her a choice of a places. Exotic but they rush you or not so exotic, but we can linger. I was so happy when she choose to linger.

We chatted like long time friends over pasta and salad the fact that our friendhip was only long distance seemed to hold no bearing.

Thanks so much to Ronke for being such a kind soul and proving how alike we are no matter how far apart.

    Make a Wish

Hey, I just noticed that today is 1/11/11. In the numerology set I hear it’s a good day to make wishes. That whole 11:11 thing and all. Now I don’t know if any of it is true but I’m a big believer in the power of the mind and dreaming and I’ve been wishing for as long as I knew what the word meant so I’m not wasting the day.

That said, what are you wishing for today?

    All We Need

After this weekend I find that words fail me, well really they don’t but I won’t add my 3 cents because it won’t be just 2. I’ll just say this…

    And give my humble prayers…

    Snook Um’s

So Snooki is having a book signings and for some reason this doesn’t bug me as much as you may think it would. Or as much as I thought it would. It could be all the Snooki hate going around has given me Snooki backlash. Despite the fact that although I’m yeah, kind of bugged over the fact that Snooki has a book published before me and I’ve been at this game for quite a while I can take it for what it is, total entertainment and capitalizing on a brand that’s hot right now. So who am I to knock the girl’s going on 20 minute hustle?  What do you think?

    Head Soak

If you’re looking for me you can find me soaking it all in– in my own mind right about now. Trying to get a handle on my writing life for the year ahead.  I hope you’re getting a good grasp on 2011.  Would a good soak help? Have a good day!

    Spacely

Happy New Year once again! Are you all ready to charge ahead into 2011? What’s Jack up to? Well take a look at him.

The poor thing is a hot mess and just miserable with this space bubble on his head. The bubble is to keep him from biting his irritated paws. Then he has to take eye drops to deal with allergies. Yeah, I have a dog with allergies. Nice. And the topper? Antibiotics for as the doctor says, “a touch of Lyme” Double UGH!

That said….Happy New Year from Jack, the bumping into walls, driving me batty still begging, space dog! Forever forging forward.

    Best,

    Kwana
