    Fuel for thought

Most of my writerly friends are in Orlando at the RWA national conference this week and honestly my heart is there too. I’ll be fighting hard this week not to live in a state of regret and oh I should have just gone for it and what the heck with the money zone. In order to combat that I’ll be listening to old workshops that I may have missed on my ipod and working on my next project and drinking lots and lots of coffee.

Here’s hoping for a productive week. Wishing I were having my annual Nora spotting though.

    Best,

P.S. Droid update: I have to get a new phone something is wonky with mine but it’s not in the store so I must keep this until it’s shipped to me. Patience is not my thing but I will deal. My BIG complaint: Why Verizon is it not shipped to the store and held for me for an exchange? Why must I pay for 2 phones and will then get my money back for one once I (Me?) send the broken one to you? That does not seem right.

P.P.S this is not new news. I did kindly tell this to the customer service person in Verizon and on the phone. Just had to blog it like I blogged how excited I was over getting the Droid.

P.P.P.S (huh?) I was no all rude like the Fla man who apparently did not have an hour for the technician to fix his phone because “he would lose too much business in and hour. As a matter of fact his business could shut down in an hour. Did we all have any idea how much money he could lose in that time. An hour? It was just crazy… Blah, Blah Blah….! ” Let the record show in the 45 minutes he ranted his phone did not ring once. I guess Mr. Trump was not calling.

Oh and I can’t stop talking. Head over to Becoming True Me to discuss Is God On MY Plate? Here.

    Vamp It Up

What’s Jack up to? As I write this, Jack is pacing back and forth and every once in a while stopping to give me “the look” as if to say, “uh when are you going to feed me lady?”  Uh oh now he’s just stopped and is starring. Going for the hard intimidation. Oh Jack I know your tricks. Patience please.

I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was nice. I had fun with my new phone until it started to act all wonky and turned on a off a bunch of times and now I can’t find a load of pictures which seems to have disappeared. So now I’ve turned sad and have to visit Verizon and there is nothing I hate more. It really feels like I have bad phone Karma lately. And those were great picture of the DH and I was just going to download them when I noticed they were not there. I hope there is a way to recover them.

In a small silver lining my most recent pictures from the weekend did not disappear. This weekend I had a real treat. The world of blogging is so odd. You have these strange relationships based on comments of snippets of a life a person felt free enough to share. I mean who knows how truthful or authentic the person on the other end of the computer is being? Are they who they portray themselves to be? It could all be smoke and mirrors and you could finally meet a person that you have a little blog crush on and it could be like meeting a star that you’ve seen in the movies and you’re like, “crap, they were much taller on screen.”

Well folks, I’m happy to say I got to meet one, well two, of my blog crushes this weekend when my buddy Patricia (PVE) had Valorie, The Visual Vamp and her sweet love Alberto from New Orleans over for lunch.

I couldn’t wait to grab the DH and run up the hill to see them (not run, drove really, no running for this girl). First off the DH did think I was a little cra-zy. You’re meeting another blogger from where? Well not five minutes into our meeting he was just as taken as I was by Valorie and Alberto. They are two of the loveliest, sweet, funny and genuine people you’d ever want to meet.

And they tangoed for us!!! So beautiful. It’s now on my list.

Sunday afternoon was a great day. Thanks for a great lunch, Patricia. And it was a good feeling for me to come out from behind the computer myself and to meet someone who instantly felt like a friend and who was just what she presented herself to be…really real and a good vamp.

    Unlaced

What’s Jack up to? Hmm… I know Jack’s been up to something when I come in the front door and he doesn’t come forward to greet me. I’ll call him and there will be no reply. Now it can be one of 2 things. 1)an intruder could have come in when I was out and, well, I don’t even want to go there or 2) Jack’s in trouble and he knows it. Usually I can find him either under my bed or in the basement in his crate or his favorite spot is in the hall closet which is never closed because Jack knows how to open the pocket door with his paws. So when this happens I leave him be and go investigating. My latest find was on the kitchen floor. A ripped apart and empty bagel bag. Don’t ask me how he got to it. I thought it was in the fridge. Oh Jack you are good.

So I’m getting elbow deep or maybe it’s knuckle deep at this point in my lace project. I can’t tell you my frustration with this thing. Well, really I can but first isn’t this book cover just gorgeous. I’ll have to put it on my TBR list.

Now back to my first time at lace knitting. Grrrr…. First off the counting or miscounting if you are me, every row a different count. And then it was the fact that my needles were way too close in color to my yarn. Eyes crossing.

So after unlacing so many times I took a trip to the craft store and brought some deeper rosewood needles and started again, and again and again.

Finally I opted for a smaller scarf repeat instead of a shawl and I started again so this is where I am now.

This is going to be a long project. At least I’m plotting while I’m knitting or unlacing if you will.

How’s the hump day treating you?

    Best,

    Kwana

    Happy Monday!

Just when I was feeling incredibly blah and terribly impatient with life I got this email note from The Universe on Friday to keep me hanging on:

So what if you don’t have it yet, Kwana? It’s coming. You’re gonna get it. You’re gonna love it. And then you’re gonna forget there was ever a time when you didn’t have it.Like clockwork.I know,
        The Universe

Feel free to take it with you to help you through this week if you like. I sure will.

    1987 Calling

What’s Jack up to? As I type this on the side deck he’s tangled in his leash all around the patio table and now plopped at my feet terribly mad at his situation. Sorry Jack you got into that mess and you’ll have to wait a minute to get out of it.

I’m grilling dinner right now making burgers for the kids and turkey sausages for the DH and me. I’m not doing a good job tonight and smoking out the whole neighborhood. Normally it’s the DH’s that’s the grillmaster but he’s working late and the teens are always starving.

By the time you read this it will be Friday and another week has just flown by. My head is starting to spin with new writing ideas and it’s getting a little scary and overwhelming all the things I’m thinking of. I really have no clue yet how I’ll work it all out. But I guess that makes it exciting.

Yesterday, I went to Verizon and checked out the new Droid X and my first impression was MAN THAT’S A BIG BUTT PHONE!

I mean really big. Like an ipad for my ear. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit there but it was big. HUGE if you ask me. But it does and cool apps and it’s fast as all get out and you can probably make a call. Still it’s BIG as all get out and now I’m still in a quandary over the whole phone thing. I’m sure I’ll be revisiting it with the DH a lot over the next few days. He may divorce me if I don’t stop already.

But right now I think I want to do like Prince with the Internet and because I a) can’t make a decision and b) don’t want to pay a bunch of money and c) am over it… I will declare the smart phone OVER. If you need me you can find me in 1987. Leave me a message.

    Have a good weekend.

    Best,

    Kwana

P.S. Don’t forget to stop by Becoming True Me if you have a moment to let me know what you think. Thanks.

And thanks to Sarah from Smart Bitches and Kristen for the good Driod X reviews.

UPDATE: So now Apple is giving away the oh so costly bumper for the iPhone 4. It’s still in the running.

    Paris Taught Me That

Deep Breath… In. Out. In. Out. Whew. For some reason I feel like I need to catch my breath as I type this.  Though there is nothing all that exciting to report life seems a bit whirlwind and go go go. Or maybe it’s just time that’s going too fast and I feel like I’m running to catch up. Either way it’s already July 15 and that is quite shocking to me. But the good thing about it being July 15 is that the new Droid X is out today and I can finally see it in the non-flesh and get that (cut to me holding my fingers about an inch apart) much closer to ending my new phone torture. Whee!!

Then I can be like Danielle from the New Jersey Housewives and pretend to talk on the phone to $iss people off. “Paris Hilton Taught me that.”  Ya know.

     Best,

    Knit Wednesday

Look at the pretty new yarn I just got. I’ve been in the mood to try something totally new in the knitting arena for a long while so I’m taking the plunge and finally giving lace knitting a go. GULP. Be very afraid. I’m sure I’ll be tangled up in knots the next time you see me. Well, more tangled. Double GULP.

    What Cha Reading?

What’s Jack up to? Well with the big heatwave we’ve been having there’s been no dashing out the door for the Jackster lately. He’s no fool that dog. He’s staying where there’s air conditioning and doesn’t want me getting angry and locking him out, not that I’d do that. LOL.

So I have not asked this question in a moment. What cha reading? The last few books I’ve read were:

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo a book/knitting/moms night out club pick which 1/2 the club has read so far and  I really enjoyed but took me a while to get into but it won me over by the middle. Now I know with that review I’m not the norm. But I do want to read the next in the series. Lisbeth is such an interesting character.

Then there was Soulless and Then Changelessby Gail Carriger which my friend Kate from Babbling about Books turned me on to. I loved Soulless so much that I had to buy Changeless for my ereader the same day I finished it. I have to say though it could not beat Soulless but left me with enough of a cliffhanger that I am very much waiting for the 3rd book in the series. Carriger is such a wonderful writer.

Now tell me what are you reading? Who’s rocking your world right now?

    Best,

    Kwana

    Phone Wars

Good Tuesday to ya! I hope the holiday weekend did everyone well. Today it’s back to the real world of routine and for me I hope that means writing. And by that I hope it means good writing.

I want to think all of you all for the kind words regarding my RA diagnosis. It’s really appreciated.

Now onto other news that plaguing my life right now… What new cell phone should I get?  You’d think I was solving the BP oil spill with the way I’m going on over my cell phone dilemma, but my Crackberry Storm has broken at the inconvenient time when the iphone 4 has come out and now the Droid X is due out in a couple of weeks too. The phone wars are on people!  …in my head.

Honestly I’d love the iphone. To me it’s just a sexier, sleeker, prettier phone but it has problems like that whole data plan deal and really, have you ever heard anyone actually talking on one? Sigh.

I’m sure I’ll figure out what to do soon. I feel like I’m hanging out in 1998 with the old cell I’m carrying around now and 1998 wasn’t the best year for me.

    Have a great day!

    Best,

    Kwana
