40 days Writing
So last night as we were gorging ourselves on pizza and wings (I was using Fat Tuesday as the excuse and it seemed valid at the time) my son casually asked me what I was giving up for Lent. Of course I was horrified and gave him a look that let him know it. What a time to ask while I was enjoying my wings and Glee no less. Besides I had not thought about it. I had decided to join in with our church’s Body Of Christ initiative to get healthier, pray and devote more and besides I has already given up sugar in my coffee so I was good. Really good.
I shrugged and said I didn’t know I just thought I’d be a bit better. Better was better. But still something was nagging. It had been nagging at me all day. The day went by too fast and not enough as usual got done. The kids were ok, dinner was done, somewhat, I had done all the running around I needed to do and my freelance work was done too I even swept in a corner, yeah it was one but I swept. But still, I was just off. Then not a few minutes later it dawned on me. What would make me so much happier, so much more fulfilled. Fixing the unease I was currently fighting against. The same thing I can complained to my DH about earlier in the day.
So quick I ran to the computer and tweeted this before I lost my nerve:
Have just figured out what I am giving up for lent… Days without writing. No more unfulfilled days for me!
There you have it. Everyday must do some work on my current WIP just let it flow and not let my mind or life or sweeping get in my own way. Nothing is more important. I’ll see you all when I see you! Much Love!

Action Jackson
What’s Jack up to? We’ll I’m happy to say with the weekend rain the huge snow piles are finally gone so that’s great news for the Jackster who has been going a bit stir crazy here. The most action he’s has these past few weeks has been from the UPS man who has renamed him ACTION JACKSON which is a very fitting name I think, since he never seems to stop and still runs around like a friskypuppy getting into just as much trouble as one too.
As you can see form this pic Jack is still as shaggy as ever and long overdue for a visit to the groomer though I’m afraid I may now be charged hazard pay he’s such a mess. Is my Jack under there?
Hope you have an action filled day! And Happy Mardi Gras!
Best,
Kwana
Monday
Yeah it’s Monday…
So you might as well grab that cup of coffee and face the world with your usual charm.

Hello Universe…
What Are Words?
He captured our hearts with his heartbreaking story but didn’t make it to the top 24 which stunned so many.
But no matter because Chris Medina is already out doing good and bringing us to tears with his first single What Are Words and part of the proceeds go to a fund to care for his fiancée Juliana. You can purchase What Are Words on ITunes. This one is a tearjerker. I wish there could be a happy ending here somehow.

Merci!
A big thank you all of you that gave birthday wishes to Nana yesterday. I went down to her apartment with the twins and the DH and surprised her with presents, balloons and her favorite strawberry shortcake. After I booted up her computer, she was so happy to read all your kind words that she got all choked up (which doesn’t happen easily) and she gives her heartfelt thanks to you all for that.
Nana had a wonderful day going for lunch at her favorite restaurant, fielding countless phone calls, taking deliveries of edible arrangements (yeah we enjoyed that one) and she got more bouquets of flowers than she could count. It was a great day!
Thanks again to all of you that helped add to it.
Best,
Kwana

KwanaThe Waiting…
Lately, in my house with college apps having been out for a while for the dear twins and us having gotten some good and not good news from different places we are all going a bit nutty around here. We’re still waiting to hear from some top choices for both kids. Still stressed over how it will all play out come September and I won’t get into the stress the DH and I feel over how it will work out financially. I’m just living on it will.
To top it off I have a book out on submission that has been out forever but that’s just how it goes in publishing. No news is no news or just a no and you have to move on. But I still can’t help constantly checking my emails. See I’m not one to compartmentalize and put things in the back of my mind. Everything stays right of front talking up too much space.
All that said I woke up with morning and this song popped into my head. Good for a writer and a high school senior. Enjoy.

And the Fashion Oscar Goes to…
So did you watch last night? No matter it was dullsville in quite a few parts. Honestly, to me the Red Carpet was more lively than the actual show. Here are my favorite Red Carpet looks:
Loving Natalie looking pregnant and beautiful, Mila gorge, Hailee so sweet and Anne loving the red.
Halle, Kate, Celine and Camila (girlfriend of Matthew McConaughey) hit it out of the park with their looks. I so want that black gown. And I’m giving a special nod to Kate for making me look twice before I decided her dress was really a work of art. Thanks Kate for not playing it safe.
Down here Jennifer, Gwyn, Amy and Nicole sadly don’t make the best list. They do get E’s for effort but there is something a little off with each look that keeps them for hitting their marks.
Best,
Kwana
