    Faraway Friends

What’s Jack up to? Today Jack is enjoying yet another snow day with me and the Dear Twins. He’s still on his meds though I have taken off his space cone since he has broken it almost beyond tape repair. And besides that I can’t stand to have that sharp little edge jabbed against my legs one more time so I’m giving him a break there. Poor little Jack and his space cone. I hope he enjoys the snow without it today.

On a more fun note: It is still so surprising how this whole blog world works at times. On Monday I was thrilled to have a chance to meet a longtime blog friend from way across the pond in London. The Lovely Ronke aka Ondo Lady from the always happening pop culture blog The Musings of Ondo Lady.

I’ve been a fan of Ronke’s blog for well over 3 years since Patricia of pve design first told me about her. And happily Ronke and I have been blog buddies since my first comment. Now with the power of Twitter we’re able to chat in more immediate time and the friendship has grown even stronger although I’m always a little miffed when she makes an Eastenders comment (wish I could be watching too).

I was so excited about a month ago to get an email from Ronke saying she would be in New York and would like to meet me. She was kind enough to come up my neck of the woods and I picked her up from the train station taking her for a lunch. I gave her a choice of a places. Exotic but they rush you or not so exotic, but we can linger. I was so happy when she choose to linger.

We chatted like long time friends over pasta and salad the fact that our friendhip was only long distance seemed to hold no bearing.

Thanks so much to Ronke for being such a kind soul and proving how alike we are no matter how far apart.

    Make a Wish

Hey, I just noticed that today is 1/11/11. In the numerology set I hear it’s a good day to make wishes. That whole 11:11 thing and all. Now I don’t know if any of it is true but I’m a big believer in the power of the mind and dreaming and I’ve been wishing for as long as I knew what the word meant so I’m not wasting the day.

That said, what are you wishing for today?

    All We Need

After this weekend I find that words fail me, well really they don’t but I won’t add my 3 cents because it won’t be just 2. I’ll just say this…

    And give my humble prayers…

    Snook Um’s

So Snooki is having a book signings and for some reason this doesn’t bug me as much as you may think it would. Or as much as I thought it would. It could be all the Snooki hate going around has given me Snooki backlash. Despite the fact that although I’m yeah, kind of bugged over the fact that Snooki has a book published before me and I’ve been at this game for quite a while I can take it for what it is, total entertainment and capitalizing on a brand that’s hot right now. So who am I to knock the girl’s going on 20 minute hustle?  What do you think?

    Spacely

Happy New Year once again! Are you all ready to charge ahead into 2011? What’s Jack up to? Well take a look at him.

The poor thing is a hot mess and just miserable with this space bubble on his head. The bubble is to keep him from biting his irritated paws. Then he has to take eye drops to deal with allergies. Yeah, I have a dog with allergies. Nice. And the topper? Antibiotics for as the doctor says, “a touch of Lyme” Double UGH!

That said….Happy New Year from Jack, the bumping into walls, driving me batty still begging, space dog! Forever forging forward.

Eek! December 31st- Who’s Looking back?

Are you kidding me? It’s December 31st ? Really? I wonder how many more question marks I can put into this post to let you know how I feel about it being December 31st and me having to write it??? Seriously??????

For real I’ve been going around the blogs and reading everyone’s year end posts and resolutions and honestly dreading the thought of doing my own so much that it gave me a knot in my stomach and a migraine. Those of you that know me, know how I am with change and worry. All things that something like a New Year can bring angst to. So though I’ll put on the usual smile that you see everyone else wearing on this day toast and blow a horn maybe even don a jaunty cap, I’ll really just be… me.

No I don’t want to look back and reflect on the past year. The bad will only get me down and I’ll magnify it too much making it more than it was. And the good I won’t give enough credit to but I know I should because there is so much good if I really think about I’ll weep with joy way quicker than I would ever over the bad because, silly me, that bad was yesterday not today.

But today I’m still the same old me and I’m not going to look back because I won’t do that right and I’ll just get mad at myself because of all I didn’t accomplish. And I’m not going to look forward because I know I won’t do that right and I’ll just feel stress about all I have to do.

So instead I’ll just keep still and look inward and then upward and stay true to myself and be forever HOPEFUL.

I have only one New Year’s resolution that I will keep striving for ….

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    Love,

    Kwana

    Christmas in the Bronx

There’s nothing like Christmas in The Bronx. With a hottie 2 hottie rooftop Jesus or I think that may be an archangel either way he’s oddly hot, Alvin and the chipmunks and is that MJ hanging out front? Yeah only in the Bronx. Since the twins were small the DH and I have been taking them to the wild Christmas house on Pelham Parkway. For over 29 years the Garabedian family has been doing this annual extravaganza on their front yard. This year before the blizzard we got to take Nana for a visit. She had never been and was just in awe at the spectacle along with the rest of the crowd. To read more about the family check out their site here.

  • my view,  Real Housewives of Atl

    And then there was Phea

It’s been way too long but let’s go for it. Are you watching The Not So Real Housewives of Atlanta and Beverly Hills? I know I have not been posting about them but if you follow me on twitter you know I’m watching though watching twice a week is a bit much for me. Most of my enthusiasm is reserved for the Hot Mess of ATL. Beverly is fun but so much money that I can only afford to laugh from a vary far afar.

I have to say after last season’s theatrics, I’m back in love with my girl NeNe. I’m feeling so bad for all she’s going through this season with down in the basement hubs, Greg and that son of hers. What a mess and now the baby news of his and to top it off she has the new guy Peter trying to be all Simon like and become and extra housewife on her back. It’s so not working.

But my love to hate fave is Phaedra. Have you ever? Phaedra with her inconvenient baby (or Brabry as Dwight says) and hottie “clean”  hubby.  She is all kinds of good TV there. What a pick. Mmm Mmmm Good. Now let’s do another awkward photo shoot Apollo shall we?

    So are you watching?

    Best,

    Kwana
