Round and Round We Go…
Last week our annual Fireman’s Carnival came to town. As usual it was rained out for the first few days and as usual the weather got better and folks were able to enjoy it just before it packed up to move on to the next town. My DH and I walked over to see the fun and check out the sights. For myself I will not confirm or deny if funnel cake was eaten. I will say it did look mighty good and I hear it was delicious. ‘Nuff said.
This is a picture of the Round Up. For some reason I stopped and took lots of pictures of this ride and the whole time my stomach turned and did uncomfortable flips and turns. What you barely make out from this picture are the brave souls standing up on the ride holding on while it spins round and round only to be held in by the centrifugal force of the ride, sheer will and small chain in front of them. This used to be my favorite ride as a kid and now the thought of getting on filled me with fear and an instant headache. So I took my pictures and thought of the kid I used to be. Made a wish for the woman I was and would be and then said goodbye to The Round Up. Until next year…
All the best,

It’s Monday…
Time to hit the ground or the Underground running. Spotted this line while down by Wall Street this weekend. How New York is that and P.S. why have I never noticed these two next to each other before? I’m sure Jay Z has.
Have a great week!
All the best,
KwanaMaking Note Of It
Check out this beautiful canvas print of my book cover that I got at Easy Canvas Prints.
I’m not sure what I’ll do with it or where I’ll put it, but still I love it! I was feeling like I needed to document this milestone in my life in some way. Who knows, hopefully this will be the start of a collection.
I’d love to know how you celebrate all the wonderful things you do? Now don’t be shy, because I know you all do quite a lot. Please share and give and give yourself that well deserved pat on the back!
All the best,
KMJ
Friday Side-eye
What’s Jack up to? Why he, like me, is totally giving this week the side-eye and wondering how it got to be Friday already. How in the world did Friday get here and the floors didn’t get mopped, the tree didn’t get up and my characters in my current WIP are still doing a little bit of everything but getting down to the business at hand. Yes, it’s side eyes all around over this way!
Oh well, better to let it go and list of a few accomplishments: Christmas pics have been taken, Outside lights are up and the deep freezer has been cleaned and scrubbed after the horror of Sandy. (Sidebar: There is nothing scarier than scrubbing a basement deep freezer all alone, at night. Yeah, I should have thought that chore out a bit more.)
Next on my list, it’s back to those characters and getting them away from all the chatter and down to business. Of course in the back of my mind it’s the other Christmasy things to do, gifts to get, cards to write. But that will all, I hope, somehow happen It always does. And I know that Jack with his reminder side-eyes will keep me on track. How do you stay on task during the Holidays?
P.S. If you have a moment I invite you over to like my official Amazon author page. Just another way to keep up on all my book happenings! Also have you read Through The Lens please feel free to leave a review. I’d love and appreciate it. Thanks!
In the Dark…
So I’m a little tired this morning as I type this after spending a restless night without power which went out about 4:30 yesterday afternoon and as of this moment it is still not back on. Let me say you never know how many things in your house have annoying battery backups that will go out and start beeping in the middle of the night until you have a nice long 12 hour power outage and you are left fumbling for the source of the beeping in the dark.
And it’s really no fun when at 5:45 the security alarm back up goes out which now wakes up the whole neighborhood but you just can’t see them all flip on their lights because they don’t have power either. But you hear them and their dogs barking over your poor dog barking too. What a mess.
All that said, I’m up. And hopeful that the lights will be on soon. And I’m grateful for my up the hill neighbor and friend with power and coffee. And later I’m going to buy some more D batteries before the snow comes and real bad weather hits.
Have a good Wednesday!
Best,
Kwana

Update: I got back into the light a little after 12 noon. Feeling all fancy with light flipping and laundry drying. Whee!!!
Winding Down…
Summer is winding down and early in the morning you get that hint of Fall chill in the air. What’s Jack up to? Well right now he’s just watching me and the rest of the crew spin around like winding tops, bumping and bouncing off the walls and each other as we ready the DD to go back to school and get ready for THROUGH THE LENS to come out on Monday. Yes, it’s pretty hectic around here with so much to do. Many t’s to cross and i’s to dot. The Jackster may be feeling a little lost in the shuffle of it all. But no worries come meal times he sure makes his presence known.
Have a wonderful weekend and don’t Labor too much. Stop by here on Labor Day for THROUGH THE LENS fun!

Kwana
Who/What Can it Be Now?
With dog attacks, kids with ugh, family in health peril, me in car crashes and now lightening striking a tree right between me and my neighbors house, I find myself getting a wee bit paranoid and asking, “what can it be now?”.
To this instead of going totally cray, I’ll leave you with Men At Work and just get back to work.
Enjoy.
Best,
Kwana
Goody Two…
So this summer is just kicking up right nicely. Not.
Not only does the Jackster still have to wear the cone of shame but now my poor DH went and got himself in a sling by falling onto his shoulder. I’m taking to calling him Slingblade (he’s not laughing). But really with all this and the rest of life I’m dancing as fast as I can just like Adam here. Let’s watch and while we’re at it, dance. I just love the 80’s.
Have a good one.
And Hey here’s a smile. Have you “liked” me over on my FB author page yet? I’m getting close to the 100 mark. Yay to that. Thanks!Best,
KwanaGrind it out
Happy Tuesday. So it’s back to the grind for many of us after the long holiday weekend. And sadly I think I over extended myself and hit my burger with grilled onion limit a mite early (Must work on my pacing).
I’ve got a busy week ahead with the kids and hopefully lots of writing work getting done but I’m a little stalled as I have not gotten used to this new/old busy house yet. Not. At. All.
Another thing I’ve not gotten used to is the heat jumping up 15-20 degrees overnight. I’m fighting to not put my air on, but when the temperatures reach near 90 it’s pretty hard. I’ve got fans in every room because the DH will have a fit if I flip that switch this early in the season and send that electric bill soaring. Here’s hoping for a cool breeze today.
That said I’ve got my coffee in hand (also some ready to ice) and I’m ready to roll. How about you?
Best,
Kwana

Peeking
Hi there. I’m peeking out from my little cave to say hi. I’m trying to get into some sort of new life schedule with kids back home and a busy writing life. Things are a changing rapidly around here and it’s never a dull moment, but through it all I have to remember to stop and breathe and just let the world happen.
Jack is still hopping around and so over his collar, but he needs it as I have to clean his wounds 2x a day so though he hates it, it’s very necessary. I hope I’m doing the cleaning correctly and all will be well when we return to the vet next week for his stitches to be removed.
I’ll probably be a little more sporadic on ye old blog for the next few weeks just peeking in here and there. I will surely give you updates on anything exciting with me or the Jackster or the super cool book coming out in September!
In the meantime if you have not please go and if you like, “like” my official author page on Facebook. Thanks.
Best,
Kwana
