    Bookish Love

I had a wonderful day yesterday at the Brooklyn Book Festival. Though the weather was a little gloomy and muggy, spirits were still high and I had a great time signing books with the fantastic Laura Curtis.

I love meeting readers and making new friends!

    We even saw Waldo!

Now it’s time to get back to the writing grind as the words wait for no one and I’d better use ‘em while I have ‘em but first…

please join me in wishing a very Happy Birthday to my beautiful and amazing mother.

Happy Birthday Ma! I love you with all my heart.

We all do. Keep shining bright!

    Scribbling away…

Happy New Week and the summer flutters along, seeming to flitter away just out of my grasp, it’s going by so quickly. I hope it’s going a little slower and a bit more leisurely for you. This past weekend though I did get to enjoy a fun summer night heading to the Bronx to cheer on the Yankees and see The Captain #2 Derek Jeter in his final season. The family and I had a great time and the Yankees won too. It was fantastic all around!

Next week I have some more excitement coming up (and a bit of terror too if you know me). On Monday night August 4th I’m honored to have been invited to read at the fabulous Lady Jane’s Salon once again.

    Lady Jane's Header

This time I’ll be reading my essay from Scribbling Women, the for Charity Anthology edited by Lady Jane founder Hope Tarr which I’m so proud to be a contributor to. If you are in New York please stop by. My essay is sure to embarrass my dear DH as it’s all about how we sleep together after 25 years. The poor man being married to a romance writer. LOL

But don’t just come to hear me, even better come to hear the other fantastic authors reading. There will be: Katana Collins, Alice Clayton and Sofia Tate making her Lady Jane’s debut! Yay!

    Nana knows best!

So this past holiday weekend we had Nana over and it was all pretty fantastic with us doing the usual … *Chilling on porch, eating lots of good food, playing cards and then eating some more. Like a knitting pattern cycle back to the * and repeat. At one point during our chill fest I put my sweet Nana on the spot and flipped the video camera on my cell phone and asked her to give 3 reasons why people should read BOUNCE this summer.

    Plan to Dream

Happy Friday! Well we made it through another week and for me what a week it was. I made it through the 1st week with my DD away on her semester abroad in France.

Yes, I still hardly slept and yes, I worried like crazy and yes, I cried more than once, but I’m happy to report that my lovely daughter arrived and is settled with her host family and is happy and doing well. I got to Skype with her and meet her host family over Skype too and was thrilled that they are already treating her like a member of the family. Having 3 grown sons the mom said, “thank you for sending me a daughter”. This made me tear up again but also soothed my heart. Please continue to join me in wishing her well, love and safety and to send good thoughts to our new extended family in France!

With the DD settled I got to thinking about my own dreams and goals for the next few months. I have so much going on with THREADS OF DESIRE coming out on Monday. MONDAY!! (cue mild freakout) You can pre-order it here. But after that my writing options are wide open. Luckily the book ideas are overflowing, but sadly for me time is not. That said, I brought a fantastic new Filofax A5 Domino to reign in both my time and my writing. So far I’m thrilled with it (and I blame my twitter/writing bud Dren for the new obsession with flair). Now to get to writing…

Tell me are you one to plan your dreams?

And a big thanks to all who commented and entered Alyssa Cole’s giveaway. Alyssa pulled a winner and it’s Reese Ryan! Thanks so much Reese. Alyssa will contact you with your prize.

So now it’s Monday and time to crack that Monday whip. For some reason with both kids now settled and getting into their pursuits and studies I’m feeling like this is as re-start to the New Year for me. I’m making my to-do list and checking it twice. Time to really grind it out.

But first…. I guess there is more snow to be shoveled. Both Jack and I are not amused (also someone needs a haircut. Spring please come soon).

    Wishing you a great day.

    All the best,

    Working for the Weekend!

Happy Friday and Happy weekend! Wishing you all a bright and sunny one and one where there is hopefully a nice warm up for all of us. Please no snow and no ice storms. Let’s keep it nice and light, shall we?

    week

This weekend I’ll be, I’m sure (since I already am), a little verklempt since my lovely DD will be heading off to France for her semester abroad. There will no doubt be a teary goodbye but I’ll try to save the full on waterworks for the car ride home.  I’m just hopeful that she learns a lot, stays safe and has the time of her life. France, please be good to my baby.

As for today please join me over at the newly launched Romance at Ramdom site where I’m getting real and talking BOUNCE. And speaking of BOUNCE, if you haven’t bounced in yet now is the perfect time since I’m holding a kick up your heels $0.99 for a limited time. Enjoy!

    Sweet Birthday Wishes Ma!

Wishing the best of birthdays today to my Super Cool Mom today. I’m thinking that though a blue box would be pretty neat gift she just may take a sweet blue cake as a 2nd best substitute.

    Summer Breeze

What’s a better excuse to leave the cooking up to someone else than a cool summer evening and a perfect sunset. Last night the family and I headed out to one of our favorite spots on City Island for a quick and casual dinner of fried seafood out by the water. It was a perfect night of low humidity and lovely breezes. The dinner was hot and tasty and the dessert was sweet and cool.

As the DH drove home with the baseball game playing low on the radio, I was practically asleep by the time we pulled into our driveway, lulled and contentment as I was by a full belly and a stress free evening. This is what summer is made for. What are some of your favorite casual summer traditions?

    All the best,
