    BEA Afterburn

So as I write this Book Expo BEA12 little mini wrap I’m sitting with a heating pad wrapped around my neck. I tell you nothing can prepare you for a day of walking up and down the length and width of the Javits center with your purse slung across your body and then being offered advanced reading copies of books, glorious, books! For a confirmed bookie like me it’s just too hard to pass them up hence the heating pad today.

    Check out my haul!

I also had a couple of celebrity spottings while there for my quickie day. The very first book I got when I hit the floor was arguably (?) the most controversial cookbook ever from Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice, Fabulicious! Her peeps were handing out her book and she was signing and taking pics as she had with the previous book the year before. The funny thing is I was just on twitter the night before having a RHONJ talk and she came up. So when I got up to her I told her I had been twitter chatting about her and told some people that I thought she was not like you see on TV in person and I found to be warm and lovely. Well, she turns to me (IMO very sincerely) and says, “Really you said that about me and you met me last year? Thank you. Thank you so much for that. “ Then she puts out her hand to shake mine. It was sweet. Now, I know it’s all still a hot mess over in Bravo Jersey but, Tre was once again ok with me. Sidebar: I really need to learn to pose better. Ugh.

My next great sighting was with the fantastic bestselling romance author, Brenda Jackson who was signing at the Harlequin booth. When she asked who should she sign her book to I told her, my mother, since my mother will probably steal it anyway so why should I fight at anymore? She laughed and another woman laughed behind me at my funny story. I then heard this woman say to her, “Can I take a picture with you to put it on my Facebook page?” I sort of knew the voice so turned around. It was Judge Lynn Toler from Divorce Court! I think she was at BEA signing her book on marriage. But how much do I love that she’s a romance fan too? Hmm wonder if she’ll read my book when it comes out in September? Well, me not being shy, asked to get a pic of the two of them and if I could post it here. Aren’t they cute?

All in all I had the best time! I also scored an ARC of 50 Shames of Earl Gray the 50 Shades parody by Fanny Merkin aka Andrew Shaffer. I was so lucky to get this book because Andrew’s line, as in all things 50, was off the chain crazy.  Makes me think I’ve got to get on that 60 Shades of Jack calendar as previewed on my Pinterest. LOL.

And I got to hang with Katiebabs and Stacy (Love Love Stacy for being all organized and a pre-plannerly, yay for friends like these). Then made a new bud in, Marnie so score there.

All in all a great day, minus the shoulder pain, of course.  Time to get reading.

    Goody Two…

So this summer is just kicking up right nicely. Not.
Not only does the Jackster still have to wear the cone of shame but now my poor DH went and got himself in a sling by falling onto his shoulder. I’m taking to calling him Slingblade (he’s not laughing). But really with all this and the rest of life I’m dancing as fast as I can just like Adam here. Let’s watch and while we’re at it, dance. I just love the 80’s.

    Have a good one.
And Hey here’s a smile. Have you “liked” me over on my FB author page yet? I’m getting close to the 100 mark. Yay to that. Thanks!

    Double Impact?

Really Liquid Plumber have you gone just a smidge too far or am I (yes, me, I know hursh) getting all Regency prudish and you’ve just hit on super brilliant marketing? I saw this last night and thought, wow they took the Velveeta 3rd hand (so funny, I love it) smiting to the next level for sure. What say you bloggy friends?

    Grind it out

Happy Tuesday. So it’s back to the grind for many of us after the long holiday weekend. And sadly I think I over extended myself and hit my burger with grilled onion limit a mite early (Must work on my pacing).

I’ve got a busy week ahead with the kids and hopefully lots of writing work getting done but I’m a little stalled as I have not gotten used to this new/old busy house yet. Not. At. All.

Another thing I’ve not gotten used to is the heat jumping up 15-20 degrees overnight. I’m fighting to not put my air on, but when the temperatures reach near 90 it’s pretty hard. I’ve got fans in every room because the DH will have a fit if I flip that switch this early in the season and send that electric bill soaring. Here’s hoping for a cool breeze today.

That said I’ve got my coffee in hand (also some ready to ice) and I’m ready to roll. How about you?

    Time Out For Repair

Taking a bit of a break while my computer is being sent out for repairs. Let’s hope it comes back from ye old shop feeling bright, shiny and practically like new.

Wishing you all a fantastic Holiday weekend!

    Contained

I’m doing a little work on keeping my life contained and so far not doing a very bang op job of it. The only progress I’ve made so far is over the weekend with my new container porch plantings of basil and some hot and sweet peppers. Also some geraniums for a bit of pretty. I’ve decided to forgo the planting in the back since over the past few years it’s been steady disappointment of weeds and some critters coming along at the last minute stealing my bounty. Besides you know what they say about doing what you’ve always done…

Also Jack seems to like it out front. Here’s hoping for better results this year. Are you doing any spring planting?

    Peeking

Hi there. I’m peeking out from my little cave to say hi. I’m trying to get into some sort of new life schedule with kids back home and a busy writing life. Things are a changing rapidly around here and it’s never a dull moment, but through it all I have to remember to stop and breathe and just let the world happen.

Jack is still hopping around and so over his collar, but he needs it as I have to clean his wounds 2x a day so though he hates it, it’s very necessary. I hope I’m doing the cleaning correctly and all will be well when we return to the vet next week for his stitches to be removed.

I’ll probably be a little more sporadic on ye old blog for the next few weeks just peeking in here and there. I will surely give you updates on anything exciting with me or the Jackster or the super cool book coming out in September!

In the meantime if you have not please go and if you like, “like” my official author page on Facebook. Thanks.

    In the Pink!

Wishing you a week full of unexpected beauty. I spotted these on my walk with Jack while taking a different route. He’s still on the mend and will have his stitches removed in about a week. Thanks again for all the good wishes.
