Who Me?
Mel snagged this from someone and now I just swiped it from her. Thanks Mel Francis.I’m not sure if they got me right at all. What writer is all that confidant? And sure I care who reads this blog. The more the merrier. As a matter of fact go and tell three friends about how insightful I am right now so I can be more confident. Thanks.

Today is my 1st Blogiversary!I can’t believe I made it a full year. Here is the silly pic that started it all. What a nut I was to do that bit of crazy. Thanks so much to all of you for sticking with me. I feel so honored to hang here in the blog world with so many wonderful and talented people. I truly appreciate all the old friends that have been on board since the beginning and the new friends that I’ve made. I look forward to making many more in the next year. You all are such an inspiration to me every day.Happy Holidays!

Kwana and the wild one JackHeartbeat
What’s Jack up to? Jack is having a hard time navigating in all this snow which has now turned to nasty slush and ice. Poor thing I wouldn’t want to put my paws in that either. Before you bring up doggie booties, they are so not Jack’s style or my patience. Getting his jacket on him is chore enough. Oh the joys of winter. It’s December 22nd and the holiday panic has seeped in. My to do list for the day is 1, 2, 3, 4 …17 items long and counting. Thumpity, thump, thump goes my rapid heart.Anybody else feeling the heat on this cold day?
Well, if you’re not or even if you are and need a bit of a break check out this great new website I Heart Daily from YA writer Melissa Walker and Anne Ichikawa. It’s a daily newsletter for teen girls with features on fashion, beauty, entertainment and news. It’s super chic and oh so cool even if you’re not a teen and just want to be in the know and who doesn’t want that? Check it out here.Best,

What’s Jack up to? Jack gave me such a much needed smile yesterday with the funny way he pushed his water bowl over to me when I wasn’t getting off my butt fast enough. The DH and I were chatting over the day’s mess. Yak, yak, yak and not paying Jack any attention as he ran back and forth between us. Out of the corner of my eye I watch as he maneuver the bowl from a tough corner over to my feet and then he looked up at me with the sweetest eyes like, “what ya got to complain about now lady?” Love that.
With all this talk of Change I’ve been thinking of making some changes to my blog. I’m not sure what they will be yet, I’m going to take them as they come to me. But the first change will be to spread the Jack updates out a bit. Keep his fans guessing and the paparazzi on their toes.Today Thanks to Ondo Lady for sending me to The Selby for gorgeous peeks inside interesting folks everyday lives. While there I came across Mike and Jen.
Hmm… New rules for a happy relationship? Interpretative Dance. Enjoy!

What’s Jack up to? Once again he’s working my nerves by going for the trash. You may think I’m nuts but I swear Jack knows how to push in the latch that locks the trash. That dog is too freakin’ smart for his own good.
So I’ve gotten an award. Little ol’ me. Can you believe it? Elizabeth from Scandalous Women was kind enough to bestow on me the Premio Dardos award. What’s that, you ask (I know, I asked the same thing) well, here’s the official rundown:
This award is given for recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing…that’s the general idea.
Here it is, more eloquently, in Portuguese:
O conceito deste prémio passa por reconhecer valores culturais, éticos, literários e pessoais, transmitidos de forma criativa e original nos pedacinhos rabiscados por cada blogueiro que o receba. Ahh pretty! The rules of this award are as follows: show the image of the award on your blog, link back to the blog that gave the award, and nominate 15 other blogs that you consider deserving the same.
Now 15 seemed liked a lot to me but I put some serious thought into this and here are 15 blogs in random order that I really do j’adore and visit everyday. Shhh! Don’t tell the DH. I’m supposed to be writing, ok? Check them out. You’ll love them too.

Best,
KwanaP.S. I’m off for the New Jersey writers conference with the PIC this weekend yippee!!!
Have a great weekend!
The Beast is Loose and Kristen Casts on!
What’s Jack up to? Jack’s sneaking off to the Dear Twins room to see what he can get into. With the messes they keep their rooms there’s lots of trouble to get into there. Oh, Jack.
There’s a new hot spot on the web. Ex Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown
has launched The Daily Beast an online magazine for all things political, entertainment and well just… current. Give it a look see here. I suspect it’s still evolving and will be evolving a lot in the weeks to come.
The Internet is all abuzz with opinions for Ms. Brown. You know how those are and how the saying goes. We all have ’em blah, blah, blah. So far I like the bits I see. As for my opinion? Add a bit more fashion I’m there all the way! But so far I like what I see. This bring up the question: In this millisecond world are monthly mags a dying breed? I hope not. I just hope they can change with the times. Hmm… Change, the buzzword for our time I think.
I’d like to give a shout out to my fellow writer and buddy, the Diva herself, Kristen. She’s opened up her own Etsy store: Blondissimo Gems and Jewelry. Don’t you love that name? Go and check it out here. Go Kristen. Way to Cast-on!

KwanaMommy Blogs- So what of it!
What’s Jack up to? Happy to be chilling alone after the weekend with DH and Dear Teens confined to Dear Home and studying or is that just me. Ok, it’s just me. The weekend was full of tons of grrrr worthy moments. Totally blog worthy, I’ve got to think about that.So I was checking out Dooce’s blog. If you don’t know her, she’s the Ms. IT of the premier bloggers out there and has been heralded as “THE mommy blogger” and she was posting about her appearance on The Today show which I was bummed to have missed since I’m crazy about this type of stuff.
I was so happy that she put up her appearance and slightly annoyed when I saw it. Not at Dooce a.k.a Heather B. Armstrong who has thing blog thing so down pat that her own DH gave up his own day gig to manage her blog biz, but at The Today Show for sending a girl to do a woman’s job and the dismissive way in which it was handled by the interviewer.I can’t stand it when folks are interviewing people on subjects that they clearly know nothing about. This just burns me up. Kathie Lee said she didn’t know about computers. Check out her blog here. Sigh. Big ups to the assistant for typing it up for her. That would totally have been my job back in my early fashion days.
First as mothers we have THE toughest job in the world then when we try and do another job and still be there for our family we get put down. Not cool. You watch and tell me what you think of the interview and the whole mommy blog thing in general. Discuss. Have fun.
If you’d like to see a really good interview with Heather check out this Nightline one. I think it gives the subject the tone it deserves.
Best,
KwanaP.S.All you weekday readers please scroll down and check out the weekend posts and chime in. DON’T DREAM IT BE IT! And don’t forget the MEME somebody pick up a book and take up the cause. She really likes me!
What’s Jack up to? He’s being his old self and and getting into all sorts of devilment. Climbing on top of the dining table on the sly to see if there’s any food he can steal. Jack get you butt down!! Next he’s jumping in and out of the empty bathtub. Like I need his dirty butt in my clean tub. Jack!!
So I was so excited to find out the the fab Melissa Walker picked my blog to win the Arte Y Pico award. What? Hold the phone! Not me? Totally undeserved. Look at how pretty it is. Thanks Melissa!
Here are the rules:
1. Pick 5 blogs that deserve the award for creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her/him the award itself.
4. The Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of Arte Y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award. (Espero que hable espanol!)
5. To show these rules.
So I guess it’s pay it forward time:
First up is pvedesign for her constant contribution to the art world. Everyday she adds something beautiful to her blog.
Next is Brown Girl Gumbo. I can’t make it without my daily dose of fashion and beauty. Brown Girl is always on the cutting edge of fashion. Check her out!
Third is Megan Frampton. My girl Megan is a writer, blogger and mother who always has something smart to say. And a good dose of male eye candy never hurt anyone. Clive Owen anyone?
Fourth I’m going international with Aurea. Mary-Laure lives in Paris and travels all over Europe snapping gorgeous pics, and lucky us, sharing it with the world. And her dog Benjy is too cute.
Lastly, I’m going to a design and decor blog that I love: My Notting Hill. Notting Hill always posts lovely and inspirational pictures that make me want to better my home or at least sweep the dang porch and buy myself some flowers.
These are the blogs that inspire me to try to do a little better. Thanks Bloggers! Now pass it on…

Lunch with some IT girls
What’s Jack up to? He’s like me and trying to figure out what the heck were going to do with the DD and the DS while there on spring break this week. Sorry kids but we’re not going to some exotic local like the rest of the super fab teens of today. Oh well. Welcome to the real world. That’s life.So had lunch yesterday with the premier women bloggers of my town (it’s a small town). It was Wish List Mom, PVE Design and I got to finally meet Confessions of and It Girl for the first time. Fun was had by all as we chatted over Greek food about anything and everything from being blogger moms, to publishing, to Queen bee moms and Kingpin dads. We also were nicely complemented by the-shall I say, interesting and it must have been 5 o’clock somewhere- patron of the establishment who pronounced us all verrrrrreeeey beautiful women. Hey, I’ll take it where I can get it, so it’s all good. Plus he threw in a free de-lish desert so you know we’ll be going back.On another note check out the new bag I scored from Tar-jay (that was for you, Megan) the other day. It’s a limited edition by Joy Gryson who used to design for Coach, Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs and as soon as I saw it in Elle magazine I knew it would be a perfect throw across the body bag to keep my hands free while walking Jack and it is. I didn’t even have to order it on line. I had ended up in the store for other supplies and there it was like fate. I got the basic black, but it’s super hi-gloss and way cool. At 19.99 I could not go wrong. Hey, Jack. Let’s take a stroll. I got a bag to show off! What’s up for your weekend?best,Kwana
