    Old or New School Planning

Am I one of the only ones still fighting the calendar feature in my phone? I never even look at the thing. Well, that is not true. I did try a few times to program a meeting in once and failed miserably. Bells and chimes going off at all sorts of inappropriate times. But that said, my old pen and paper has never let me down.

Though I’m more of a Pantser in my fiction writing I’m a Plotter in my everyday life and I’m the type of person that keeps it old school and still has to write things down on paper for it to be true in my mind. I’ve used a Filofax for years. My kids always know what mom means when she says, “go and get me my red book.” And years before that one it was a book of another color. I have to say the planners seemed to last longer than the phones I’ve had.

Well over the past weekend I got a pretty new Kate Spade leather planner that I think I’m going to love. A happy new color for a Happy New Year! I will say I’m hesitant to write in it but sadly, the year is already starting to fill up so time to get planning. Let me at it!

So are you Old School or New?

    Laters 2012!

I’m saying a cheery goodbye to 2012 and a happy, hopeful hello to 2013 with one of my old faves, a chippy Time Warp two step. Won’t you don your bobby socks, put your hands on your hips, bring your knees in tight and join me?

See you all in Lucky 2013!

Happy Belated (really, Kwana?) 5th Blogiversary to Me!!

Oh my goodness! Here it is my blog birthday has come and gone and I totally missed it. How like me is that one?

But you see, like myself, ye old blog has become a woman of a certain age and as with women of a certain age it seems we’d rather forget such milestones and just keep things moving, you know going on with the day to day, no fanfare and all that. But you know these things must be noted and indeed celebrated just as the as the turning of the New Year.

So please raise a glass with me to ye old blog and more importantly raise that glass to all of you! Cheers and thanks so much for hanging with me all these years and for your wonderful support of by debut novel Through The Lens! I’m currently deep into writing book 2. Working to make that an even bigger, better and sexier story so please look out for updates here and on my Facebook page. Big hugs and lots of smooches all around.

In the year to come I hope to make ye old blog bigger and better and yes, I hope a bit more interesting. I also hope for myself, not to give resolutions and definitely not to be bigger, but I do hope to be better and maybe more interesting. Yeah, we’ll see how that goes but for a change I’d like to make it my plan to have more fun trying.

Here’s to living your story in 2013!

    All the best.

    Super Christmas to All…

Merry Christmas to all of you my lovely friends!

Wishing you the very best this holiday. I hope it’s magical and bright for you all. Last night the family and I observed one of our favorite holiday tradition and headed over to Pelham Parkway in the Bronx to see “The Christmas House” as we always call it.

I’ve posted pics of the Christmas House here before and as always, this year did not disappoint. The robotic mannequins were all done up with their best glitz and glam and with sparkly new jewels and gleaming wigs. Hey, Marilyn! And there was  even the addition of a Superman this year. Holy Man of Steel saving Christmas!

It was so much fun to see all the families out and the kids with bright eyes (my big kids included). Tonight we will make cookies for Santa that I hope he’ll enjoy and tomorrow spend the day sharing cheer with family.

Today I’m wishing you a Super Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    Peace and Blessings.

    All the best,

    KMJ

Cozying Up while looking… Through The Lens

Is the weather outside frightful? Well, on this island it’s all delightful. Need a break? How about making Through The Lens your Holiday Getaway?

Mika Walters is a normal woman working in the not so normal world of New York Fashion. As long time assistant to uber sexy photographer Alejandro Vargas she’s tired of being the girl in the background. Just once she wants Alejandro to look at her with the same smoldering look he gives to his willowy models and now she has her chance.

    Stranded.

After a travel mishap where the rest of the crew and the models can’t make the remote location shoot for another three days Mika is taking her moment to catch Alejandro’s eye and put herself in front of Alejandro’s camera and if all goes to plan, his bed… at least until the real world catches up with them.

Alejandro doesn’t know what’s gotten into Mika maybe it’s the sand, maybe it’s the sun, but he doesn’t really care. All he knows is that he’s finally opened his eyes and is seeing her clearly for the first time as the smart, gorgeous and incredibly irresistible woman she is.

But why can’t she realize that what he’s feeling for her is not one of his usual one, well, three night stands? This is real. Real love, real passion. What’s it going to take for him to prove to Mika that she’s the woman he wants? Now and forever.

    Just another day…

What!? Are you still here too? Oh well, guess we’d both had better reboot and get to finishing up that Christmas shopping now.  Yeesh.

Oh and that little book to the right there: Through The Lens makes for some fantastic ‘put your feet up- get away’ reading when you’re done with all that shopping and family stuff. Just a suggestion. Have a happy!

    Clicking with Friends

Today I’m off to knit with some friends for the last time before Christmas. Sadly, all my lofty plans of holiday knitting did not come to fruition but it was sure fun trying each week while hanging with my good friends. Isn’t always more fun when you get to do things with people you enjoy? Have a happy day and take a little time to reach out, maybe to that friend you haven’t spoken to in a bit. It may make both your day.

    All the best,

    So Fresh….Again.

Happy Monday! So it’s getting towards the end of year and time to start making those resolutions and get to thinking about all the new things we’ll all be doing to start all over and so oh so much better come January 1. Well I’m over that. I’m ready to go all in while the getting is good. Who knows come January  1st I may not be as motivated as I am today.  Heck, I could be knee-deep in a New Year’s hangover by then so the way I figure it I’d better move while I still have this notion in my head before I talk myself out of it which I’ve been known to do.  Now I’m not talking anything major (well, maybe I am…I don’t know something has to give) but as for now I’m talking some tweaks in the right direction. Who knows, I may just fool myself into getting healthy. Now where is it you find these things called “Fruit” and “Veg”?

Are you planning on making any Fresh Starts come the New Year?

    All the best,

    Angel’s Arms

Today I woke and like so many others with hope that yesterday was just a bad dream. But no, it happened and that overwhelming feeling of sadness is left to nestle in and find a place in the corner of our hearts where all grief goes.  Then I walked past the little stone plate that I keep hung in my home and have had so many years (see it’s had its share of dings over the years as we have) that I’ve honestly forgotten where I got it but remember I was drawn to it all those years ago when my two angels where just little ones.  It’s an angel holding two small babies safely in her arms.

I can imagine the angel’s arms are overflowing today. Sending hope for healing hearts in Newtown and all over the world today.

    Love and Peace,

    KMJ
