Shiny and New
What’s Jack up to? Jack’s had a busy weekend this weekend. He went from Scruffy to Fluffy after a surprise. Well, surprise to him, trip to the groomers.
On Thursday night I was in the basement having a grand time watching The Not So Real Housewives of Atlanta and hanging out on Twitter when Jack came to snuggle up next to me looking like a little scarecrow and smelling like, well, you don’t want to know what he smelled like.
I knew this trip to the groomer was very much needed. After his unhappy time on the high tableJack was looking good and thrilled to be back in the car.He was even more thrilled when he was rewarded with a new toy back at home!I hope your week is is shiny a new too.

What’s Jack up to? This video shows how Jack is feeling over Nana going back home after hanging with him for the past week. Poor, poor Jack.
I’ll be missing Nana too. We had a great time just chilling, playing cards, people watching and trying to keep Jack in line.Best,

What’s Jack up to? Jack’s still trying to get used to this limited diet thing. It’s not fun or easy. He’s very picky about his food and come to find out the food from the vet is super expensive. Yikes!Jack also got in huge trouble yesterday and had to go on time out for charging out of the house and running across the street to bark at the big sweet old dog that lives there and never bothers anyone. Talk about a Napoleon complex. My dog has one. Grrrr!Have a Happy Friday!Best,KwanaGrumpy Puppy
What’s Jack up to? Poor Jack is not happy. After a visit to the vet he’s been put on a restrictive diet in order to see if he has any food allergies to take care of his runny eyes. So on top of shots and giving blood Jack can’t even eat or have the treats he wants. So far it’s not working out too well. Last night I was left with a full bowl of food. I’m hoping being really hungry today will help the food taste better to him. I’ll keep you all updated on a grumpy Jack’s progress. No worries, Jack I’ll try and diet a bit right along with ya. As I’m elbow deep in edits I’ll try and cut down on the light and sweet iced coffee at least a bit. A girl needs the proper fuel to work.
I hope you all had a good weekend and have a Sunny Monday.

Happy Friday!
What’s Jack up to? As I write this (late Thursday night) the Jackster is right under me up under my bed snoring lightly. Poor thing, he’s worked so hard. Trying to sneak into the trash multiple times, but I was up on my game and thwarted him each time. I’m sure today he’ll come for me with extra strength. I’ll be ready. I hope.
What is bad writing?
I find it hard to define, but it’s something you know when you read it. Now being in a book club the subject of bad writing has become an interesting and lively debate.
For me it’s writing that doesn’t flow or hold my attention. It’s definitely writing that I have to go back and read a few times in order to understand or writing that doesn’t ring true and I don’t mean in a fantasy way I mean in an authentic way.
I’m very interested in this documentary Bad Writing with George Saunders and David Sedaris.
So how would you describe Bad Writing? This post maybe? Ouch!
Have a great day.

What’s Jack up to? Mr. Pushy has been just that lately. Pushing his luck with the early wake up calls and coming over to my side of the bed giving it a bit of a hard shove. He may look small but that dog is strong. Oh Jack, you know I’m not a morning person. Lord knows you get quite the attitude when folks come around messing with your afternoon naps.Twitter can be the devil, but it can also be a wonderful thing if used correctly. Last week I posted a Friday tweet question. What are your favorite writing books? Please RT.
I’m happy to say I got lots of good responses and some of the books were new to me. Here is the list in pretty pics. Some that got multiple nods: Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird, Steven King’s On Writing and Forest For The Trees by Betsy Lerner. And you thought you could just sit and write. Well, I know I at least hoped. Please share some of your faves that were not on the list or tell me if you’re a writer that just wings it. I have to say, though I have a few of these and reference back to them often I have the hardest time getting through a writing book. Maybe that’s my problem. Hmph! Now if you’re not a writer what sort of tools do you use to hone your craft?Best,KwanaLovers Game
What’s Jack up to? Little Mr. Determined is just about wearing me out with his demands for attention lately. It’s like he’s doing a great job of being a toddler dog being very pushy and vocal when it come to wanting water, food a walk or a treat. Sigh. I need a life here.
The fun of the internet had me finding, well actually it found me, this cool and I warn you addicting computer game Heart Wild Solitaire. It’s the game with a romance story made for romance readers! Too cute. A matching card game that leads you on the story of Anne as she leaves her old life behind and sets off to rediscover her true self. You can check I out here.As you click you get further into Anne’s story. Remember my warning: addicting! LOL.
So tell me, what computer games to you play?Best,
KwanaMagical Monday
What’s Jack up to? Jack’s had a good weekend. He got to chill on the 4th of July. All was pretty quiet in our neighborhood on the 4th. Most of the action was the 3rd and Jack hung in the basement with toys and treats where he wasn’t bothered much by the loud noise.I hope you all had a magical weekend filled with good food, fun and fireworks and when I say fireworks I mean only in the best way. Not in the crazy life kind of way. LOL.The family and I decided to brave the crowds and head downtown to see the Macy’s fireworks spectacular. Something everyone should do at least once. This year it was held on the Hudson River instead of the East side. As you can see there were people galore but the big show made it well worth wading through the crowds. Just amazing!I hope you have a Magical Monday!

What’s Jack up to? Well Mr. Cutie got me a a book contest win on Twitter yesterday. I tweeted this picture of him and won a Dean Koontz book from agent Colleen Lindsay. Go Jackster! I’m sure it was the tail wag that did it.So I tackled the screen door yesterday. Man that thing took waaaayyy too much time and sweat. Here’s Jack doing his version of help. Check out the crazy eyes. Nope, he’s nothing like the handy dog from yesterday’s post. I sure could have used that dog.Of course after I got the old piece of screen out and the plastic tubing from that skinny little channel. Eek. (thanks needle nose pliers) It took an extra trip to the hardware store because the tubing I had was to thick to go back in. Ugh!And still it was too hard to put the tubing back in. Even when it was thinner. Ugh, again.Joe our lovely hardware guy gave me the ol’ head shake on my second trip. It would have been so much easier if I could have just taken the door off and brought it over for him to fix. But no. That wasn’t happening. So after much mumbling and swearing under my breath, I finally kinda sorta got it in. At least good enough to keep the bugs out for now. Look closely, that’s mesh! So, Until I feel like a do over, it’s gonna have be good enough. I’m tired and my poor hands can’t take it. I’m much better with a paint brush. There’s a reason they pay folks to do these things. But end the end total cost for the job: $9.00. Of course now I need a manicure so there’s the trade off.Best,KwanaQuit Bugging Me!
I need to get my handyman on and bad. My darn screen on my back door is all a tatters, letting in all sorts of flying bugs and I’m just a magnet for them. I just know it’s because I’m so sweet. It’s bad enough that I have 2 angry looking welts on my shoulder where I was bitten my something (I think a bee) while doing planting over the weekend. I don’t need a bunch more mosquito bites to go along with them.Eek. I’m getting all itchy just thinking about it and I’m highly allergic to the world.
Wish me luck. I’m sure Jack won’t be nearly as helpful as the dog in this pic. How funny is that?Best,
Kwana
