    Mojo Monday

What’s Jack up to? Jack had a very happy 3rd birthday yesterday. Filled with fun and new toys. I even let up on his special diet and got him a birthday cupcake which though his was happy to eat, didn’t stay down. Oh, well at least he enjoyed himself.
Jack, says thanks for all the well wishes yesterday!

I’m back from the NJ romance writer’s conference and happy to report that I had just THE BEST time. It’s such a well run conference full of friendly people with top speakers and presenters. The only downside? The 4 and 5 am fire alarm. That stunk. Here is some of the NY crew at dinner lunch. Notice the wine on the table. The hotel thought it would make up for lack of sleep. It did not. That cute little sweetie there did not partake.
But as you can see I think the rest did.

(Carolyn, Isobo (holding other the cutie Jack) Leanna, Stacy)

Upside. Rooming with my PIC Megan and Liz M. too for a hot minute. Sorry I don’t have a picture of Liz. Hi Liz! Here are Megan and I in the hotel’s faux Soho lounge. It’s pretty. The only pic I have of Liz was taken during the fire alarm. I think it’s nice. I’m afraid she may not.

Some of the great workshops I attended were:
One on digital publishing with super smart Icantalkdigitalinmysleep and, yes, I think she can, Angela James.
Darn, how did I let her leave without telling me what format was best for my Sony.

A dialogue workshop with Bestselling author Karen Rose. Here is Karen with friends and fans Louise and Danielle.

Also a super workshop on Collages with Jennifer Crusie that blew my artist mind. I already do story boarding but this will have me taking it to the next level. I knew Jennifer was Ms. New York Times Best Seller but now that I know she was an art teacher and is quite an artist I think I’m more in love. Notice it says behind her “creativity is play” something to keep in mind.
Finally I spent many an hour hanging around Bestseller (I was doing that a lot trying to get some mojo to rub off) Madeline Hunter. She had 2 workshops

    1. Surviving Almost There (a place where I seem to have been hanging out for quite a long time)

    2. Alaso a double session on conflict that rocked my world. I learned so much. She really got the gears working.
Now I just about thought I’d swoon when I went to the book signing later and gave Madeline my card and she said that she had been to ye little old blog before. Oh happy, swoony day! Thanks for that moment Ms. Hunter.

And now for your viewing pleasure a few more pics from the signing:

Golden Leaf Winner YAY!!! Anna DePalo. Congrats Anna.

    Leanna Renee Hieber

    Isabo Kelly

Janet Mullany. Lucky me getting her last copy of: A Most Lamentable Comedy.

So as you can see I’ve had quite a weekend. Now time to put all that inspiration and fun into practice. Gotta hit the writing cave. Will be popping out for brief sips of air.
    Bye!

    Best,

    Kwana

    One, Two… THREE!!!

What’s Jack up to? Well today Jack is feeling like he’s practically grown up, little Mr. Big Stuff, You can’t tell him he’s not all that because…

    Happy 3rd Birthday to
    Jack today!

Wow, I can’t believe my wild little oversized Yorkie is 3 years old today. In the time we’ve had Jack life has not been the same. There is never a dull or quiet day and yes, I complain but the joy and the smiles sure make up for it.

    Three cheers for the Jackster!!!

    It’s Raining Pinecones!

What’s Jack up to? Jack is such a crack up. Just when he takes me to the edge he does something sweet like wait patiently by his water bowl just looking at me until I get my first cup of coffee. That dog knows I’m a bear until I get my coffee.

So we had quite a wind storm yesterday and you’d have thought it was raining pinecones by the look of my yard. I’m feeling like I should be doing something with all these pinecones like a craft or something. At the very least I should be putting them in bags and selling them on the side of the road. Unscented thank you very much.

This post doesn’t make much sense but I like the pics. I hope you do too.
    Have a good Friday!

    Best,
    Kwana

    Oh Jack!

What’s Jack up to? Jack has been such a trip lately. Sending us all on wild Jack chases.

Running out of our yard to a neighbor’s yard on the street behind us just when we think he’s being good and proper. Not.

Then it was the other day when I was ready to give him a bath and he decided to send me running in a circle after him. Well, I put a stop to that once I got in enough exercise to get winded. Plaeaze. Jack ended up hiding under the bed for an hour and me, well, I do have patience sometimes. I did finally get my man, um, dog as you can see here.

Now here he is nice and fluffy and on his leash but still not too happy with me. Check out the evil eye. Humph! I’m not moved…much.

    Shiny and New

What’s Jack up to? Jack’s had a busy weekend this weekend. He went from Scruffy to Fluffy after a surprise. Well, surprise to him, trip to the groomers.

On Thursday night I was in the basement having a grand time watching The Not So Real Housewives of Atlanta and hanging out on Twitter when Jack came to snuggle up next to me looking like a little scarecrow and smelling like, well, you don’t want to know what he smelled like.

I knew this trip to the groomer was very much needed.

After his unhappy time on the high table

Jack was looking good and thrilled to be back in the car.

He was even more thrilled when he was rewarded with a new toy back at home!

I hope your week is is shiny a new too.

    best,

    Little Dog- Big Trouble

What’s Jack up to? Jack’s still trying to get used to this limited diet thing. It’s not fun or easy. He’s very picky about his food and come to find out the food from the vet is super expensive. Yikes!

Jack also got in huge trouble yesterday and had to go on time out for charging out of the house and running across the street to bark at the big sweet old dog that lives there and never bothers anyone. Talk about a Napoleon complex. My dog has one. Grrrr!

    Have a Happy Friday!

    Grumpy Puppy

What’s Jack up to? Poor Jack is not happy. After a visit to the vet he’s been put on a restrictive diet in order to see if he has any food allergies to take care of his runny eyes. So on top of shots and giving blood Jack can’t even eat or have the treats he wants. So far it’s not working out too well. Last night I was left with a full bowl of food. I’m hoping being really hungry today will help the food taste better to him. I’ll keep you all updated on a grumpy Jack’s progress.

No worries, Jack I’ll try and diet a bit right along with ya. As I’m elbow deep in edits I’ll try and cut down on the light and sweet iced coffee at least a bit. A girl needs the proper fuel to work.

I hope you all had a good weekend and have a Sunny Monday.

    Best,
    Kwana

    Write Right

What’s Jack up to? Mr. Pushy has been just that lately. Pushing his luck with the early wake up calls and coming over to my side of the bed giving it a bit of a hard shove. He may look small but that dog is strong. Oh Jack, you know I’m not a morning person. Lord knows you get quite the attitude when folks come around messing with your afternoon naps.

Twitter can be the devil, but it can also be a wonderful thing if used correctly. Last week I posted a Friday tweet question.

What are your favorite writing books? Please RT.

I’m happy to say I got lots of good responses and some of the books were new to me. Here is the list in pretty pics. Some that got multiple nods: Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird, Steven King’s On Writing and Forest For The Trees by Betsy Lerner.

And you thought you could just sit and write. Well, I know I at least hoped.

Please share some of your faves that were not on the list or tell me if you’re a writer that just wings it. I have to say, though I have a few of these and reference back to them often I have the hardest time getting through a writing book. Maybe that’s my problem. Hmph!
Now if you’re not a writer what sort of tools do you use to hone your craft?

    Best,

    Kwana
