Make It Good
What’s Jack up to? Oh, Jack he’s a funny one. Cracks me up the way he runs to grab a squeaky toy as soon as the DH walks in the door. He knows who to play the games with. Too cute.
Yesterday I got to get out and enjoy the lovely early spring day by spontaneously going down to the MOMA museum to get in some fun and culture with my bud PVE, her lovely daughter and her fun friend. So much to take in and get the inspiration juices flowing. Also nice to get out of those moody blues for a bit. I loved this painting by Robert Rauschenberg. As soon as I saw it I thought it’s good for Good Friday. There is something so hopeful there and I’m nothing if not hopeful. Always have been at my core. Funny how I’m reflected in the Plexiglas. Embedded right in the artwork part in the dark part in the light. Aren’t we all. Hmm…

What’s Jack up to? Jack’s wishing all of you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Have fun in your green and partying it up today. But please go easy peeps. Cheers! And a super Happy Birthday to my friend Patricia Van Essche of PVE Designs. You can check out the amazing artist and blog wonder here or just look up and see her handy work on my banner.Patrica and I have been friends since back in the days when we were both still in the world of 7th avenue fashion. The friendship was cemented the day I discovered she had some sort of bewitching powers and predicted my twins even before my own doctor! Although I suspect since she had just given birth to her own twins she wanted some to follow her in the madness. Since then we’ve been thick as thieves in good times and so-so. Watching our babies grow up way too fast. Both moving from the city to the sort of country and working hard to make our dreams come true.Patrica’s works of art around my house. I know, lucky me.Join me in 3 cheers to Patricia! Happy Birthday! May this year be all you wish for.Much Love,KwanaHappy President’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day
Smooches to all of you. We hope your weekend is filled with lots of love.Love,Kwana & JackKeep it Simple- Share the Love
What’s Jack up to? Jack had fun barking his head off at the utility workers outside our house trimming trees for quite a while yesterday. It was a big treat for the Alpha Dog.
So Valentine’s Day is falling on Saturday this year. It’s been a long time since that happened. I’m sure it will be impossible to step a toe into just about any restaurant in town without a month old reservation. And really do I want to deal with the crowds? I don’t know. The idea of a Saturday Valentine’s day seems like a little more pressure than the usual weekday Valentine of flowers delivered and a quiet evening meal. Although I may say I want the dining and dancing of a fab evening, in the end I’m a simple girl that enjoys a quiet tucked away dinner and a movie. That’s me, always the cheap date. Now if I was being whisked off to some exotic locale for the weekend, believe me I would not complain about that either…I guess it doesn’t really matter what you do as long as there is genuine love shared there somewhere (and good food doesn’t hurt).
So what are your weekend Valentine’s plans?Best,
KwanaGood Bye Holidays
What’s Jack up to? Poor Jack is so not feeling this cold weather. I’m with him. This bitter cold is just makes me want to hibernate.A while back a wrote about how my Nana and her neighbors went all out and decorated their apartment hallways for the holidays, proving you don’t need a house to get into the holiday spirit in New York City. With this weekend being the official end to the holiday season I thought I’d share these pics that I snapped with my cell camera the other day when I was visiting. Check out the totally wild hallway decorated by my aunt and her neighbor directly across the hall.
The funny thing is if you are a centimeter over 5 feet 8 inches you have to duck to walk through the tinsel. All the kids love it.It’s back to the real world come Monday. Are we ready? I think I might be.Best,KwanaThe Past is Past- Happy New Year 2009!
Happy New Year to all my blog friends. Welcome 2009!
So it’s a new day and a new year. Are you all pooped out? I know I am.
I vowed to myself a while back that I would not make my usual resolutions so that I wouldn’t be disappointed in about a months time. Way too much pressure that I just don’t need. Besides, I already know what I need to do and I talk here so much that you know it too.
So no resolutions for me except to try and be better than I was last year, do my best and stress less. But last Sunday I got to hear a reverend at our church preach that I had never heard before. One thing she said that she lives by, which I’m going to try and adopt (and this will be really hard for me) is this:
“Don’t bring your yesterday into today.”She spoke about attacking each day with new eyes and a new spirit and letting go of the hurts of past and moving forward. Something to think about on this first day of the new year.
Have a wonderful today!

KwanaNew Year’s Rocking Eve
What’s Jack up to? Jack is relaxing under my bed as I write this which he knows makes me a bit crazy since I can’t stand all that movement underneath me. Jack you’ve got to get a move on to your own bed, dude.
Happy New Year’s Eve!I hope you all have a safe and fun one. Last night I got to enjoy an impromptu dinner with friends and neighbors along with the kids where we all dressed up and did a black tie pot luck. It was so much fun. Great idea, E! Thanks so much for having us.A perfect early New Year’s celebration and a sweet reminder of what’s truly important. Spending time with those you love and sharing with others.Have a blast ringing in 2009 tonight. I will be in church watching my DD dance, giving thanks and sending prayers for a better year for myself, my family and all of us. Then it’s toasting 2009 when I’m back . Yeah I’m really living wild.Not.
What are your plans for New Year’s Rocking Eve?Best,KwanaLow Key Christmas
What’s Jack up to? Right now he’s chilling on his new warm throw that he got for Christmas. Yep, that dog is way too spoiled.
I hope you all had a happy holiday and are enjoying getting geared up for the New Year. It can’t come fast enough for me.My Christmas was nice and low key. I did all my cooking on Christmas morning with surprisingly little stress and it all turned out great and was pronounced delicious by Nana, the southern cooking queen.
I finished 2 out of three knitting projects so one will have to be and after Christmas gift. Oh well… The love will still be there. Photos to come soon.
How was your Holiday?Best,KwanaMerry Christmas
