    Time to Make It Work

The fashionististas were back last night with the season premier of Project Runway! I have to say this TV-nistsa couldn’t be happier to see old friends Heidi, Tim, Michael and Nina. And what a refreshing change from my hot mess housewives. Could it be I’m getting a little burned out there?

That said she show started out with a bang with a narrowing down of 4 designers right out of the box. From the very beginning I was Team Bert! I can’t say Bert! Without the exclamation point for some reason he just does that to me. You can look at his home video here and see why. I just love a late bloomer. Go Bert!

I was sorry to see Rafael go he would have made fun TV and I really liked him but those pants? Ugh. So tell me who are you going for this early in the game.

    Team Bert! Happy Friday.

    I’m Back Baby

Definitely not full power but with less than 1 month now before the dear twins head off to college I find I don’t have the luxury to wallow in my lost mojo do I’m declaring it BACK-ish.

Hope your day is MOJO filled.

    Tears Dry on Their Own

This has been a tragic weekend with my heart breaking for the people of Norway and today hearing about Amy Winehouse. My DD and I shared a love of Amy’s music and both had hopes for her to recover to live a happy life. Sadly, this was not to be. We shared tears for Amy and her pain.

I told both my teens how much I loved them today. Had them make a promise that I know is so hard to keep, to please stay off drugs. Pray to God for guidance always, Love and respect themselves and to use me as that voice of conscience and sounding board when times get hard, no matter how hard.  I would be there. The seemingly easy way always turns out to be harder.  I would love them forever.

    RIP Amy.

    Back on the Chain Gang

DH is off to work and the kids are off to camp. I now have coffee in hand and am about to hit this manuscript with the red pen, again. I’m feeling kinda Chrissie Hynde today.

Hope your time on the chain gang isn’t too hot today.

    Anxious Shoulders…TBR

It’s been a while since I went on a little reading binge but my historical romance mini-binge this month all started with When Beauty Tamed the Beast by Eloisa James for Wendy the Super Librarian’s TBR challenge. This month’s theme was Fairy Tales so this book fit perfectly:

    Here’s a little blub thanks to B & N:

Miss Linnet Berry Thrynne is a Beauty . . . Naturally, she’s betrothed to a Beast.

Piers Yelverton, Earl of Marchant, lives in a castle in Wales where, it is rumored, his bad temper flays everyone he crosses. And rumor also has it that a wound has left the earl immune to the charms of any woman.

Linnet is not just any woman.

She is more than merely lovely: her wit and charm brought a prince to his knees. She estimates the earl will fall madly in love—in just two weeks.

Yet Linnet has no idea of the danger posed to her own heart by a man who may never love her in return.

If she decides to be very wicked indeed . . . what price will she pay for taming his wild heart?

But really it was Beauty and the Beast meets House.

What I loved about this was Eloisa’s hilarious and so very smart turn of phrase in such ridiculous situations. Poor Linnet, due to an unfortunate choice of high wiasted dress one evening (haven’t we all been there) and being spurned by a quite caddish prince now has the ton thinking she’s pregnant and of course if they think it, well then, it must be true. So now this beauty has to get some poor, but rich (of course), schmuck to agree to be her husband. And who does she choose? Only the smartest, most perceptive, most cantankerous, doctor in all of Wales. Ahoy, I see troble ahead!

She had me cracking up with this one right out the gate with this one.

    Really with lines like:

The shoulders are a trifle anxious. You mustn’t seem anxious. You are offering to save the man’s line after all.”

How could you not love her?

    Feeling the Heat

It’s getting on mid-Summer and I’m feeling the heat both literally and figuratively with the temperature constantly on the rise. I’m chest deep in editing and the college deadline is fast coming up for the dear twins.  But I’m still trying to stay cool by taking things one step at a time, keeping the AC on and the iced coffee flowing.

How are keeping cool this summer?

    Best,

    Kwana
