For Reals?
Are you kidding me? Friday already? Seriously I feel like I just woke up from the non-break Spring break on Thursday. This is a problem.
Yesterday I spent a couple of hours with agent, Donald Maass. Now before all you writers out there go and get all jealous and what not…don’t. He was only on my iPod. I downloaded his Fire In Fiction workshop from last year’s RWA conference. ‘Cause I do want to have fire in my fiction. Here Fire is good. Let me say the workshop was great. I took pages and pages of notes and had quite a few aha moments about my story and characters which is a total win.
That said, I still love this video I found on youtube about The Writing Process. So me after comments from my lovely critique partners.
Best,
Kwana
P.S.
Here is my tweet from last night’s Real Housewives of NY:
“This was the nuttiest #rhony ev-ah. Jill has been taken over by the pod people aka The Countess.”
Did you watch? What do you think?
Writing for Yourself
Ray Bradbury makes such a good point at the end of this video about writing for one’s self that I think can be applied to all forms of art and creativity. This is especially true when feeling stuck or paralyzed in your work which lately I often do because that little devil on my shoulder is whispering nasty things like: “who are you going to pitch THIS one to?” and “nobody’s ever going to go for THAT” or “maybe if you make the character more like this THEN this one will sell.”
Yeah it’s a business I know (boy, don’t I know) but in the end you have to write, paint, draw, act, dance etc… for you.
Best,
Kwana
P.S. Ray where were your pants?
Makes me think a little of Ms. Rielle here. “Uh oh did Mummy forgot her pants today?”
Movin’ On Up
Hey, You found us…What’s Jack up to? Jack is super excited today. Running in circles, yapping and constantly underfoot. Why you ask?
Because we’re movin’ on up!
To my new de-luxe WordPress home. Kwana.com!
It’s a scary step that had me with some sleepless nights and plenty of nail biting and yes, codes they be very complicated. Eee.
I’m so thankful to have had the help of my lovely friend Jax who was by my side (well over the net and phone) with her vast knowledge of WordPress webery (made that up). Who knew that besides being a super talented writer she was also such a talented web designer? Thanks so much Jax.
Also thank you to Patricia of pve design for my header and her wonderful artistic talents.
Now it will take a while for me to give the new home a full inspection and work all the kinks out and of course I still have a lot to learn. Please look around click on the buttons at the top and let me know what you think.
You’ll find out a little more about me. I know, thrilling, right? Sorry. You’ll also be able to take a look at blurbs about some of my finished works available for acquisition (holla if you’re an agent or an editor). But really, please let me know what you think of the whole shebang.
Those of you that are kind enough to follow me or have me on your blog roll please change the address to my new home of kwana.com. And feel free to spread the word.
Thanks so much for visiting me over here and thanks too for being such loyal and wonderful friends.
Best,
Kwana
