    Visualization

For a while now I’ve been visualizing a revamp of my bedroom. One that includes a bit of paint and a little writing space for me and maybe the dreamy possibility of some shelves for some of my many book and piles. Now I’m not sure how I’ll get that to fit in my small space but I have some ideas.

You see I’ve tried writing in other spaces in my house but my bedroom is my sanctuary and I’m my most creative in there (Stop your thinking right there. This blog is family friendly, well, most days)

So here are a few pics that I have been dreaming on.

Speaking of pretty spaces there is a cool competition going on at Apartment Therapy called the Big Window Challenge and blogger and decornista, Eddie Ross is entered. Today is the last day to cast your vote. You can go here and check out Eddie and the rest of the competition. That gorgeous bag on the chair alone deserves a nod don’t ya think?

Have fun and what projects are you visualizing today?

    Color-licous

So you know, Valorie, right? Sure you do. Well if you don’t she’s a Visual Vamp and you should check out her smooth New Orleans style over here. She always has something clever up her sleeve.

Well you can Vote for The Vamp and for New Orleans!

In the Apartment Therapy Room For Color contest. You have to register to vote. Sorry. And now you have to vote again for those who have made it to the next round!

Visual Vamp Valorie Hart has made it to the next round with her spicy Modern Creole room.

She lives in New Orleans for ten years now, and brings her New York roots to her love for her adopted city of New Orleans.

The room you are looking at is her office. You peek through an original archway into her office, which is flanked by a pair of vintage skeleton charts. One of them sports a Mardi Gras mask . The color palette is Late Creole Tomato (a coral based red), Vibrant Turquoise, and Sophisticated Chartreuse. Generous built in shelves house her collection of design books.

A white cowhide rug makes the space cozy. A pair of pale aqua lamps with couture lampshades from Paris grace her desk, an antique table from France. Nestled into a corner is a Gris-Gris altar, filled with mementos found and given to her over the years. During Katrina, the home was spared, and many credit the power of this altar for saving it! So please vote! A vote for this room is a vote for New Orleans, as well as for The Visual Vamp! But please vote right away!

You only get 24 hours to cast your vote in this round. If we pull her through to the next round, you’ll be ready to make her a winner!

Go here to vote NOW! but remember you can only vote in this round on Wednesday October 21.

    Thank God it’s Friday?

What’s Jack up to? I suspect he’s still miffed at me for sneaking him off to the vet yesterday. Sorry, Jack, but it the shots are required by law, I think?

I can’t belive Friday has come so fast. For me it was too fast.
One of the things on my to-do list this week was to carve out a more concrete space for myself. I have no real office space in my house. I tried the basement, but it felt like a dungeon to me and I ended up right back upstairs on my bed with piles upon piles by my bedside and the DH telling me it was a fire hazard.

But this week I got these two slim shelves and hung my dry-erase idea board in the breakfast nook off the kitchen claiming it for myself. Cute huh?

How soon before there are piles and piles all around? Gee, I hope not too soon.

For other cool looks at work spaces head on over to my friend pve design’s blog. All week she’s been showing desk vignettes giving us peeks into other’s worlds. It’s fun.

In honor of my new/old space and for some inspiration here’s one of my favorite clips from Pride and Prejudice. Oh, Mr. Darcy how I love thee!
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

    Kwana

    Creativity deffered

What’s Jack up to? See this sweet photo?
Now think the opposite. This morning Jack’s at the window barking his head off at every pedestrian, car and delivery truck that happens by.

And I’m supposed to work with this going on? Shhh Jack.

I’ve decided to put a few inspiration photos here for myself and my DH (notice blatant hint here). What do these beautiful dining rooms have in common? Why, a great chandelier to finish them off. To give that polish that says this is well thought out “done” room. So, I’m on the hunt for a great chandelier of my own. Something to really polish off my room and not break the bank. I’m sure I will find one. Once I get a bee in my bonnet there’s no stopping me.

On another inspirational note I’m going to my local RWA NYC chapter meeting this weekend. I love sitting in a room with other writers who are all rooting for each other to succeed. Writing is so solitary and the meetings are a great boost for me. I always leave feeling pumped up and ready to work.
