And the Fun Begins…
Thanks once again for all of your well wishes for the Dear Twins and their graduation. It was such a great time and one of the happiest, proudest and most emotional moments of my life.
I wish I had a little more time to decompress but week the of RWA National excitement begins today and it’s in my town of New York! So I’ll be out and about at writing workshops, and book signing and hopefully meeting lots of friends I have not gotten to see since the last conference and yeah, making some new ones. It all starts tonight down in Soho at Lady Jane’s Salon. Better get my skates on!
Happy Monday!
Best,
Kwana

They made it and I lost it…
Though we had thunderstorm and tornado warnings and had to all pile into the very hot gymnasium, nothing could stop the overflowing of love and joy that radiated throughout the room. It bounced off the walls and flowed through the bleachers as the graduates took their first steps and joined the cheering crowd of friends and family.
I was waiting with about as much eager anticipation as a tween at a Justin Beiber concert and I thought my heart would burst with the first glimpse of my DD and then right behind her my DS! I could not be happier. I looked over my mother and the tears were flowing into the ugly cry. Uh-oh don’t look that way. Stay forward or you’ll lose it. The DH and I waved and cheered and whooped and hollered. No one held on to a bit of class as we celebrated this truly great milestone.
And you’ll all be glad to know that I made it through the whole service with dry eyes that is until the very end when the dear twins were dismissed. No longer children in school any more, but they walked back to me now graduates. That’s when I wrapped my arms around each of them said thank you, and lost it.

So this is the day…
A day I knew would come and held tight to my heart through all the good and especially the not so good times.
I know today I’ll need a lot of this:
Maybe I’ll use a year’s suppy in one day.
Because it is the dear twins graduation day!
And I could not be prouder!

42… did I say that out loud?
Well Happy Birthday to me today and yes, I am saying the number out loud.
It’s a very grown up sounding number to me. Something to own up to. The type of number that says I should have my crap together or at least be pretty much well on my way to having it together. Right? Ugh, see that ‘right’ I just added in there? I’m feeling like with the number 42 that questionable ‘right?’ should not have been included. At this point it could be all ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and ‘I got this’. And for the most part I do. Right? Ugh there I go again! LOL.
Oh heck. This morning I’m 42 and still the same old me. Though eyes a little wider open, seeing myself clearly for the blessed wife, mother, friend, daughter, writer, woman that I am. At 42.

Everything I Know About Love… a giveaway!
Tomorrow is my birthday. Hold the applause please. Like for realz, I’m getting in the age range where I’d kinda like to not blow horns or wave banners, but still me being well… me, I can’t just let the day go by. So I thought I’d have a little celebration by sharing the birthday love and having a giveaway instead.
When I was at Book Expo I was able to get a signed ARC from one of my favorite bloggers and now come to find out she’s a fellow June birthday girl and Gemini, The Smart Bitch herself Sarah Wendell!
Sarah signed an advanced reader copy of her new book:
EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT LOVE I LEARNED FROM ROMANCE NOVELS.
The book is not due out until October 2011 but you can win a signed copy here now!
Here is a bit about the book straight from Sarah’s site:
“Combining the wisdom and wit of romance readers and authors, this book puts to rest the idea that romances create unrealistic expectations of love, relationships, and sex. Romances can teach us about finding the ideal partner, weathering conflict, discovering our preferences, and, most of all, about loving and appreciating ourselves.”
Just leave a comment and I will announce the winner Monday!
You can visit Sarah at her site and find out about pre-ordering here.
