I like the subtlety and mudnnneaess because it captures what real life is like for ANY long-term couple, married or not, gay or not. I really liked the image of meeting at the door with water. Our neighbors our cool, but there’s this resentful side of me when my neighbor and I are both mowing the grass at the same time and his wife brings him ice water. I think to myself: Could we get away with that subtle display of affection? Just as I was ready to have a convulsion, she brought me a glass of water and said, It didn’t seem right bringing my husband something and not you. After deciding it wasn’t poisoned, I drank it.
