Time to Get Lost in the Season…

Happy Friday and Welcome this weekend to Autumn! This is my favorite time of year. I can officially slip on boots and pull out my collection of black turtlenecks without fear of looking like one of those overdressed, “are-those-long -sleeves-you’re-wearing?!”  overly cold women. And I can sneer (not really , ok maybe) at all of the die-hard breezy top and denim short hangers on-ers like the summer dreamers that they really are. Time to get with the program and bundle up ladies, grab your nearest hot beverage and get with the chronic chillsters like me. Come on take a seat and relax!

And speaking of chilling, I’m chilling today with my buddy Maureen McGowan and the ladies over at Get Lost in Story where I’m answering a few questions and giving away a copy of THROUGH THE LENS! Stop on by and check it out if you have a chill moment. Thanks.

So tell me what do you love about the Fall season?

    Best,

    Kwana

    In the Dark…

So I’m a little tired this morning as I type this after spending a restless night without power which went out about 4:30 yesterday afternoon and as of this moment it is still not back on.  Let me say you never know how many things in your house have annoying battery backups that will go out and start beeping in the middle of the night until you have a nice long 12 hour power outage and you are left fumbling for the source of the beeping in the dark.

And it’s really no fun when at 5:45 the security alarm back up goes out which now wakes up the whole neighborhood but you just can’t see them all flip on their lights because they don’t have power either. But you hear them and their dogs barking over your poor dog barking too. What a mess.

All that said, I’m up. And hopeful that the lights will be on soon. And I’m grateful for my up the hill neighbor and friend with power and coffee. And later I’m going to buy some more D batteries before the snow comes and real bad weather hits.

    Have a good Wednesday!

    Best,

    Kwana

Moto Mama- Riding Out Of The Zone…

    Happy Tuesday!

It was gorgeous weather in NY this holiday weekend and today with downpours and expected flooding I’m so happy I got to get out and enjoy it. Speaking of getting out and enjoying…this weekend I did something that I never thought I’d do (but kind of secretly always wanted to) and in the name of research, I stepped out of my comfort zone and went for it.

I rode on a motorcycle for the first time!

Now for a total fraidy cat like me this is a huge deal. But you see in the book that I’m currently working on my hero rides a motorcycle and of course has to give my heroine a ride or two. Stop laughing.

Now I have quite the imagination and can flow with making up how I think she would feel being on the bike but I really wanted to experience it for myself. And thanks to a great friend and neighbor and her kind motorcycle riding friend (Thanks so much!), there I was going for my first ride. That a thrill!

I think My DH was in total shock as I rode off. The last time I was on a bike it was on a moped over 20 years ago in the Bahamas on our honeymoon and I may have shrieked in his ear the whole time.  This time I made it through with more smiles than shrieks and now I’m ready to rock my on the bike scenes after facing my fear and doing something completely out of my comfort zone.

Tell me is there anything you are waiting to step out of the zone and do?

    Best,

    Kwana

9/11 – Shifting but Never Forgetting

This is always a tough day to write a post. Your (my) heart is firmly in the past, but then you look at the calendar and 11 years have gone by. They say time heals all wounds but I’m not all that sure about hearts. I guess all we really can do is shift our focus. Today I will still think of the past, there is no way around that. But as I count my blessings, thinking of my now just about grown children that I dropped off in elementary school, that gloriously clear morning, and wait anxiously for my DH to return home from work, I will try and shift my focus to the future and to freedom.

Wishing you a shift in the most positive of directions today.

    Best,

    Kwana

    Not in Kansas anymore…

Happy Sunday! I hope you are having a wonderful and safe weekend. Can you believe tornadoes in New York yesterday? Just wild! So not in Kansas that’s for sure. But all is well over here today with a bright blue sky and shining sun. The way it is after most stormy days I guess.

Today I’m lucky enough to be over at fab author Becky Lower’s blog talking old romances and past influences. If you have a moment please stop on by here.

    Have a great one!

    Friday Goodness…

Thanks so much for making this a wonderful launch week. It’s been so exciting and tons of fun. Over the next few weeks I will be popping up in different spots all over the web promoting Through The Lens and telling you all about it as I go. Yeah, I’m sure you’ll be tired of me before long, but please hang in there, no worries between you all and the Jackster my head won’t get all that big. LOL.

But really, I can’t thank you all enough for sticking by me and encouraging me as I fought to make this dream come true. I actually do feel like I’ve won the crown this week!

You have all my love. Have a wonderful weekend!

    Your Wife Wrote What?

Good day folks. So last night I was cracking up as I watched as it started to really hit the DH that I was now published. While flipping back and forth between football and the DNC we were talking about the week so far and he turned to me and said, “So people have read the book? The WHOLE book?”

With the way he said it I couldn’t help but laugh. Finally those jitters and butterflies over people reading your words that I had been talking about was hitting him and hard. I think it may be because he was kind enough to tell some people at work about TTL and one women went and downloaded it right away coming back to comment on my dedication to him.

I just looked at him with what was probably a ‘duh dude’ face, but then I took in his nervous eyes and smiled. “Yep,” I said, “The WHOLE book. Hey, it was bound to happen one day.” Then he did that tight lip and run his hand over his forehead thing that he does and I wondered if a certain scenes were coming to his mind. I could practically feel his wheels spinning as he was probably second guessing if telling the folks at work was a good idea after all. Yep, it was funny to me.

Sweet pretty release day congratulations flowers fm the DH

Today I’m over at the fantastic Laura Simcox’s blog talking about Through The Lens, my hero and heroine and what a cheap date I happen to be (lucky DH).  Please stop on by here and see why.

Through The Lens release… The Remix!

So I’m a published author ya’ll, holla! Through The Lens is here. For better or worse. Gulp.

And with that I get to clean the clogged bathroom sink and say, “so I’m a published author ya’ll, HOLLA!” It still feels good to say it while I do it. And I do it with lots of attitude all sassy and Honey Boo Boo style while Jack gives me the crazy eye.

Thank you all so much for the well wishes yesterday. Please don’t forget to go here and enter my contest. It’s a good one!
This week you’ll get tired of me sending you to other places where I’m blog hopping but believe me you won’t be sorry. Not for the me factor, I’m ok, but once you get there please browse around and get to know these fabulous, maybe new to you blogs. They are all terrific and I think you’ll become instant fans as I am.

Today I’m over at author Synithia William’s blog talking about my how I became published and Through The Lens. Please stop on by and give it a read and a comment.
And Oh Boy, Through The Lens is Hanging with Bells. Bells has given Through The Lens it’s very first review! Trust me I was shaking as I read it. She is holding a contest today and giving away a copy of Through the Lens to the winner so please head over there and comment for your chance to win.

Thank you all so much again!

    All the best,

    Winding Down…

Summer is winding down and early in the morning you get that hint of Fall chill in the air. What’s Jack up to? Well right now he’s just watching me and the rest of the crew spin around like winding tops, bumping and bouncing off the walls and each other as we ready the DD to go back to school and get ready for THROUGH THE LENS to come out on Monday. Yes, it’s pretty hectic around here with so much to do. Many t’s to cross and i’s to dot. The Jackster may be feeling a little lost in the shuffle of it all. But no worries come meal times he sure makes his presence known.

Have a wonderful weekend and don’t Labor too much. Stop by here on Labor Day for THROUGH THE LENS fun!
