New Author Pics and a Surprise Smiles…

Over the weekend I got new author pics taken by my friend and chapter-mate. The talented author and photographer, Katana Collins.

Now though that sentence sums up what happened it in no way sums up all the drama and angst I put into the lead up to taking the pics. The stress over how I’d look. The wishing I’d lost 40 pounds the month before I took the pics. The hunt to find just the right tops to slim me out. Wondering why after all those years of watching America’s Next Top Model I’d still hadn’t perfected the smize? I was a mess. Really and truly.

Well now after seeing the pics I know that all that worry was for nothing because Katana is so talented and such a good friend she immediately put me at ease. She told me to stop my fretting and that I was beautiful. I think these photos show how at ease I was. I can’t thank Katana enough. These photos will always be a memory of what a wonderful day we had and a reminder that I should stop stressing so much and just smile.

You can check out Katana’s books here and her photography site here.

    Hmm…

I’m concerned. I mean this brings up so many questions:

How did he or she get out? Through a door or an open window? Was he out for a walk and broke free of his leash? Who is missing him and are they crying themselves to sleep at night? I hope not.

Is there such a thing as a turtle locator chip if not maybe this should be a thing?

    Yep, many questions.

And sidebar: The name Mr. T is perfection.

    I sure hope he’s found.

    They’re Closer Than You Think

Now that I’ve finished book 3 and handed it in I’m left tapping my fingers until I get my editing notes and have to look at the final book in my Creative Hearts series for the big clean up to get it ready for production.

In the meantime it’s time to face the fact that it’s time to move on and step into a new world of my own making. Now sure, I could very well add on and on and on to this series, but it really is time to start something now. There are new stories, new ideas and most importantly, new characters that are starting to take shape and voice in my head, while the old ones are enjoying their Happily Ever Afters or at least Happily for Nows off in the sunset. Yes, the time is now.

You can’t live your life in the rearview mirror. All the while hitting the breaks and holding up traffic. There’s too much crash potential. As the warning heeds, the objects behind you are closer than you think.

    Summer Breeze

What’s a better excuse to leave the cooking up to someone else than a cool summer evening and a perfect sunset. Last night the family and I headed out to one of our favorite spots on City Island for a quick and casual dinner of fried seafood out by the water. It was a perfect night of low humidity and lovely breezes. The dinner was hot and tasty and the dessert was sweet and cool.

As the DH drove home with the baseball game playing low on the radio, I was practically asleep by the time we pulled into our driveway, lulled and contentment as I was by a full belly and a stress free evening. This is what summer is made for. What are some of your favorite casual summer traditions?

    Summer Stretch

Last week I got to experience yoga for a cause with my DD and it was wonderful to welcome the summer season by stretching outdoors and such a strange experience for me to feel the heat of the concrete under my back and legs. I don’t think it’s something I’ll forget anytime soon. I will say I woke up sore from all the downward dogs and planks, but by the next day the kinks were gone and I was left with a wonderful sense of relaxation and a reminder to stop and take a moment to appreciate the solid warmth of the ground under my feet.

    The Jackster

Here’s a little deceptive Jack cuteness to get you over the hump today. Isn’t he looking sweet and oh so harmless? Yeah, don’t believe everything your eyes see. He needs to start doing his job and get a little more muse-y. My words are not flowing as they should for this story. I think he’s angling for me to add a dog but I’m standing firm on my no dogs or teens in the books rule… so far.

See I told you the pics would be on the way. This is what happens when I have to start a new story. Sorry, but it should at least be a colorful summer, though less wordy.
